  1. Sean Bean to play Absloom Daak! The campaign starts here! :p
  2. The Britain depicted in the "Whoniverse" is a country that first sent a manned expedition to Mars in the 1950's. In 1963, Grey Daleks fought White Daleks in an area of London called Shoreditch. Later in the 60's Cybermen and Yeti both tried to take over London. In the 70's the Auton dummies attacked the country twice, there were a large amount of casualties before the Nestene Consciousness was stopped. Dinosaurs fought each other in Hyde Park. Silurians and Sea Devils awoke from hibernation, they were Earths original dominant species and humans were their slaves and livestock. The Egyptian Gods came from a planet called Horus. The Lochness Monster was seen in the River Thames. The explosion that caused life on earth and kick started evolution was caused by a malfunction in a Jaggaroth spaceship. What I'm saying is take a large pinch of salt, sit back and enjoy Who for what it is, and don't worry about real life facts, London in Who bears more similarity to Marvel Comics depiction of New York than it ever will to reality.
  3. RIP Sir John, I too loved his Quatermass, and his Captain Scott, and his performance in Ryans Daughter. I agree that he would've made a great Doctor. He was one of those actor's who never put a foot wrong. One of the last of Britain's golden era of Actors.
  4. In Rose The Doctor tells her that "There is a war going on!" I just get the feeling that a Time War spilling out across the past, present, and future, would be difficult to contain. If you were going to try and stop the war where would you start? Not even The Doctor could be everywhere at once, unless the Time Lords diverted power to allow all his incarnations to "meet" and send them off on missions, (as per the three Doctor's, or time scoop them as per 5 Doctor's.) But Gallifrey has been destroyed.... I think this tactic was anticipated and that could be why Gallifrey was strategically removed. Would the Dalek battle computers come up with something like this? Or did The Daleks once more seek help from their creator Davros? This is all conjecture on my behalf but I don't think The Doctor can stop the war, maybe the main players have wiped themselves out, and there are still small skirmishes goin on in the heavens. The Doctor has lost one planet he loved, he doesn't want to lose ours too, and perhaps that's why he's hanging around earth so much. The Bad Wolf is being constantly referenced in the series, could this be the cause of the Time War, or just someone capitalising on it's chaos? Keep watching... I know I will!
  5. yes and no the aim of the Gallifrey Chronicles is to tidy up the books continuity so that it complements the new series, and doesn't contradict it. AFAIK the events depicted in the book are not a direct account of what's happened before "Rose." A Time War would surely take place in the past, present, and future, after all it's a Time war. Not at all the books have to fit round the tv show not the other way round, otherwise the tail wags the dog. If you're a nerd then so am I! :) And with the help of the new show, we shall spawn a new generation and take over the world! Chuckles evilly*
  6. This time War concept seems to me to be the Doctor Who equivalent of DC Comics Crisis On Infinite Earths. A chance to clean out anything that the present production team feel is outmoded or out dated from continuity. As well as the Timelords, I think we will find that Davros (If he is even mentioned) will have died in this war too. I reckon The Daleks fried Gallifrey, we will definitely get more info on this in Ep 6. Interestingly enough The Dalek appears to be alone, possibly also the last of its kind? Also a certain amount of retconning is going on The Doctor's new age is apparently 900, whereas the 7th claimed to be 953, and the Eighth (In the novels) is roughly 1200 years old. This probably means that certain events have been wiped from the timeline or completely revised, and only The Doctor remembers how these things once were, or maybe he doesn't. The Soldiers in next weeks ep, do not bear UNIT insignias and Nicholas Courtney has not been asked to reprise his role, (mind you he is 70 !) So who knows? Perhaps it means that the Dinosaur invasion never happened, that might not be a bad thing! ;)
