morgandeath
I heard just before I watched #13 that the Dr. will not be back for next season anyone know why? Morgan
S0V13T
Becuase Christopher Eccelson dosen't want to be type casted for his role in Doctor Who. He thinks by continuing that role, he may not be elegable for other roles, becuase he'd be too closely assciated with Doctor Who.
tinpusher
Yep, that's right. However there is one small flaw in his (Ecclestons) logic. One caveat, you might say. That is, that once you appear on screen as the Dr. Even if it is only one time you will forever be known as the Dr. no matter what rolls you play in the future. Anyone who sees you will say "Hey look, the Dr. is in this movie, TV Show, etc." So Chris im sorry to see you leave but brother it really is too late. You are already type cast. coolcat13
Still Chris dis a fantastic job this year so I wish him luck in whatever his future endeavors include. Thanks to him and Billie and RTD we have seen the rise of Dr Who from the ashes like a Pheonix
mmvonr
Having just seen Episode 13, I am truly sad to see this Doctor go--while I hold high hopes that the series will continue to grow and prosper, I had really come to like Christopher Eccelston's Timelord. It's a true shame that he couldn't have stuck around for another season or 2.
Fenriswolf
Sad, but according to the BBC and RTD it was on the cards from the beginning, CE only ever signed on for one series. There's a lot of speculation out there about it all however, so finding fact from fiction is truly hard.
Moonstalker
I've always hated the "I'll be typecast" thing. I know that it worries some actors but typically, if you're any good, you'll have other roles. But not being an actor, I bow to the knowledge of those in the profession. Fenriswolf
I've the same feelings about typcasting as well Moonstalker, they'd have to bury me in the TARDIS to get me out of it.
coolcat13
will there have been cases of typcasting ruining actors careers but I say take what you can get . If you are good enough to get typecasted at least you will be remembered .
ratboy
I read somewhere that he also suffered skin problems due to the stress of the shooting schedule.

Although I'm not happy that BBC America isn't airing Who here in the US.

To be honest i am gobsmaked that the american channels have'nt picked it up yet with the gr8 season its just had and the positive feed back by the Britsih pulic and press...as its well worth all the hype its got and there isnt many shows that can actually say that sci-fi or not. Fenriswolf
It's because its too British neo, that's one of the reasons they cited for not picking it up. I had to howl when I watched an interview with Philip David Segal (The guy who produced the Dr. Who TV movie) where he's talking about the fact his movie bombed, was they took the 'Britishness' out of it. TV Man: There is even supposed to be photographic evidence! But I don't believe that for a moment!

We need a doctor that will stick around for a good time, the last four have been too short lived, allthough 6,7 and 8 not by there fault.
