- Did that witch hunt lead by mccarthy make it almost impossible to question the leaders of the nation openly?

Revisionist Historians have no doubt destroyed anything good McCarthy has done. I personally believed he was right. We now have circumstancial evidence to support the idea that we were infiltrated by communists, and that they indeed posed a threat.

Anne Coulter's book "TREASON" goes into this in more depth than I could describe here.

How do you define being a patriot - is it supporting your leader or your country?

Leaders come & go, but the country remains. Besides, history has shown us what happens when we blindly follow a leader!

Poland Attacked!

".......Armies of the Third Reich have launched a surprize attack on Poland, it has been learned. We still don't have an accurate number of dead as yet."

just one thing about nuclear weapons

you dont need be to crazy to push the button you only need to be able to justify it to push it

no, you have to be crazy. simply because there is no hope for anyone or anything living on earth after any ONE idiot pushes their button. there can be no rationalization for it.

justify it to your country' date=' or yourself?[/quote']

Justification is in this matter trivial.

It cannot be said pushing the button is for good or bad. Since most people on this planet will die, you could say we get a 'not-so-fresh' start... or that's what I'd call an indirect consequence.

However the death of billions caused by your pushing the button is, as a direct consequence, of greater influence on your conscience. It is therefore logical to assume that the action of pressing the button shall not be done in order to save the human race, but rather as a futile attempt to have at least anything to do with the end... that's called goetterdammerung or Ragnarok, if I am not mistaken...

With the greatest respect,

Now that is one thing I have witnessed... to my shame.

Israel has nukes, so does France for that matter. Pakistan and India both just got the A-bomb. Pakistan is an Islamic fundamentalist country on the brink of war with India over Cassimere. Israel is an aggressive fundamentalist pro war country that is illegally occupying land taken by force from other countries. Do we care? No...

Iran on the other hand, has no nukes, and no delivery system. As a matter of fact, they are no more dangerous than Iraq was. They do happen to be on top of and/or next too almost all the remaining Oil other than a little bit in Africa.

This is all part of the plan, called “Project for the New American Centuryâ€ÂÂ, and was all laid out by the neoconservatives before bush’s first term. Nothing they are doing now is a surprise, as they declared their intentions before they even took office.

I could kill you for that. :)

Yet, I control my anger, my feelings in this matter.

Someday, when I'm Emperor (see the thread Emperor / Bush quotes), you'll pay for this insolence. ;)

But Iran has fundamentalists. At least that's what we're told.

"When I've captured my adversary and he says, "Look, before you kill me, will you at least tell me what this is all about?" I'll say, "No." and shoot him. No, on second thought I'll shoot him then say "No.""

- Peter's Evil Overlord list

"We're doomed!" (-- C3PO) When they tell us what they're gonna do, we will die. Look at the above quote, it says what an evil overlord should do. They're not as smart to see they shouldn't tell us... but since no ominous music starts booming around in my room when I read that, we're not playing in a movie. So, we won't be able to save the world.

Neither Iran nor North Korea has missle technology that could deliver a nuclear warhead to the continental US. Iran just developed a medium range missile that can strike spots in Europe and US military installations in the Gulf. N Korea may have some missiles capable of hitting Alaska or getting close.

The American people are in no way in any threat from a nuclear missle (besides our troops overseas). It is completely ridiculous, aggressive, criminal, and unethical policy to initiate a pre-emptive invasion on the basis that they are a threat to us.

The US has lost a lot of credibility. We've got to stop using these excuses and cover-ups to push our foreign agenda (which is getting a foot-hold on a vast portion of the Middle Eastern oil reserves). We cannot justify a war with Iran. I'm afraid that will push the rest of the world over the edge and cause a back-lash against America. That could be the beginning of the end.

Furthermore, we can't justify "spreading freedom and liberty" (almost meaningless words nowadays). These were values that our country was founded on. We have no right to tell another people, another culture how to live or that our way is better.

Damn, these leaders, mainly ours, should sit down and watch some TNG. Maybe they'd learn some of the diplomacy of Picard.

All great empires fall. Sometimes in ridiculous ways that in hindsight are laughable. Rome fell. Rome was more than America.

Exactly.

Like Atlantis... it just sucked that THEIR capital was destroyed by that earthquaking thing.

Atlantis was more than Rome...

Mu was far more than Atlantis.

But now we reach the shady time in between two Ice Ages... 20.000 years in which the same humans as we are roamed the world... God knows what they could have achieved!

The End of the World is at Hand.

One can only hope.

"The End" is what most all the different fundamentalist régimes want. Because they believe it means they get glory and heaven from God-Allah-Jehovah-fillintheblank. Religion is a good tool for controlling the masses, but when leaders start to actually believe their own propaganda, surly the end is near indeed. Just not the gloried prophetic end they are hopping for. Kind of sad actually. Like that dumb transporter episode! first time I actually hoped they would cancel Enterprise.

I don’t really mind all the war, death, and meaningless destruction of our race, I’m just peeved we’re going into Iran first. Back when we invaded Iraq, I bet a friend that Syria would be next, he said Iran. I though for sure we’d hit Syria before Iran, cuz they’re closer to Israel. Now I owe him a dollar. He’s went and hung himself since then, so I don’t have to pay or anything, but I still would have like’d to be right. The dead are awfully smug sometimes.
