It's frustrating really - at my school we have children as young as like 13 who smoke behind these sheds - my friend who is a prefect can stop them there but those 'children' will just smoke again and for some of them - for the rest of there lives - there just tooooooo young!

I tried it at about 11, maybe 10, but I wa 16 before I stated smoking full time, and I was about 19 or 20 when I first tried cannabis - or blow as we called it then.

Hmm, where are my smokes?

I have quit several times and what I find the single most difficult thing is seeing someone else smoke...

So while I might be smoking (again) now, it would be nice if every other smoker would quit at the same time as me... Okay, in all seriousness, if you smoke and you know someone who is trying to quit then take your smokes outside or somewhere else. That's what I would do.

Random facts: as of November last year it has been illegal to smoke in bars and workplaces in New Zealand. Taxation on tobacco and related products is really high - it costs $12NZ for a box of 25 Malboro Cigarettes, whereas in 2003 it would have costed around $7NZ. Since 2001 the overall number of smokers in NZ has dropped from 35% to 20%. The ethnicity with the highest percentage of smokers in NZ is the Maori's.

Ohh yah' date=' say doc.. howza bout the weed, I smokit, I lovit. fu- cigaretts... Fu- FU fu cancersticks.[/quote']

I hate to tell you, but smoking weed causes cancer. In fact, recent research has shown that you only have to smoke one joint a week to get the same cancer risk as smoking a pack a day of cigarettes.

To me it just makes sense. Inhaling smoke, from anything, is just a bad idea. One little clue is that most people who die in fires don't die from burns, but from smoke inhalation. Me, I'd stick to the muffins, just avoid inhaling them. ;)

My Mother was eight years old when she started smoking, and that was back in the 1930s, which is the reason I was warned against it and taught the terrible consequences at the tender age of seven. Back then, my Mother gave me this "Reader's Digest" article about lung cancer, and what people go through when they die of it. It scared me silly, and helped to keep me away from smoking until I was in my 20s; but, I hadn't developed the habit, and I mainly smoked cigars, from time to time. I haven't had one of those for about ten years, though. Thanks Mom! :D

My Mother also quit before she had kids, and that's a good thing. She has stated she'd go back to it in a minute, that the cravings have never gone away. And, unfortunately, in later years, she has had a smoke or two on the sly, which is something I discovered by accident.

Once a smoker always a smoker they say, just add stress.

I packed in for 10 years, had one bad relationship and I smoked agian. It's took me the best part of 2 years to stop. It's been just over 2months

The cravings never stop. But they do become managable.
