DR WHO DAVID: I FACED A BACKLASH

Ok, Now that list of good 6th Doctor stories is pretty accurate. Except maybe part 14 of trial. But people will focus on things like Timelash and use them to run it down (much like Happiness Patrol for McCoy). The real problem with Colin's era, imo, was Eric Saward. He' is also the biggest problem with some of Davison's era. The stuff he personally wrote was great, but as script editor he couldn't leave things alone and his attempts to tie things in to established continuity ruined some of those stories. Plus, I can't bring myself to forgive him for the whole 2nd Doctor, Brigadier, Jamie, Zoe sequence in the Five Doctors. Even if it has been retconned in the books. Also I think that once he commisioned something he would refuse to abandon it if it wasn't working.

I just happen to have a dire opinion of Eric Saward so that does colour my perceptions a lot. I couldn't get into Colin Baker's era at all - I actually stopped watching because it really did irk me. I started watching again with McCoy but as Potato says it's the bad episodes that people will use to run down any Doctor.

Delta and Happiness Patrol were awful to be honest.

But as said: each to their own. On the whole I loved most of old Doctor Who. If you talk about new Dr. Who though. I love the lot.

What was the problem with that?

All those characters were in The Invasion, right?

They were in the Invasion, but the sequence in the Five Doctors has the 2nd Doctor remembering that Jamie and Zoe had their memories erased. Problem is that immediately after this happens the 2nd Doctor is forced to regenerate into the 3rd. So he can't possibly remember it!!!!! Saward wrote the sequrnce so Saward screwed up.

Terrance Dicks has now retconned it in the Novels so that it does in fact make sense, but he shouldn't have had to.

He looks like an awesome Doctor though...in my opinion.

It's not really fair giving him shit before it's even been shown. I'm all for it if he turns out to be terrible (but I don't think he will) but obviously some people are to eager to condemn,

The best moments for Colin Baker were:

1) Strangeling Peri after his regeneration. I don't think that I am alone by saying that I've watched that bit over and over again.

2) As mentioned in one of the confidentals, when the 2 guys fell in the acid bath (forget the episode title, sorry) and Colin said "You'll forgive me if I don't join you".

3) Watching the Doctor Who series backwards, (Eccelson, Mcgann, McCoy, C. Baker, Davidson, etc) as I have, watching the Davidson episode " Arc of Infinity", and spotting Colin Baler playing Commander Maxell, that is hell-bent on executing The Doctor.

I'm a little cautious about David Tennant as The Good Doctor. I like him, I love his outfit, I admired him fro Casanova, and the few seconds we see him as The Doctor from the season ender, he seemed to fit into the TARDIS scenery as if he belonged there ( and as The Doctor, how could he NOT?). BUT, I know it'll sound stupid, and I have absolutely no reasoning behind this, BUT, just the way he said "Barcelona" Irritated the hell out of me. Seemed as if he was trying to do a Malibu California surfer accent, a la "Bill and Ted" accent. Totally turned me off to Tennant.

Unless he wears a kilt.

And of course, as with every other actor to portray The Doctor, well love him after the second episode.

AND they better bring back Captian Jack.

Thanks, now I remember why that always rubbed me funny.

So how did Terrance Dicks explain it?

The Celestial Intervention Agency intercepted Doctor 2 before the sentence was carried out and made him do their dirty work until they decided he was to big a pain and then carried out his sentence.
