Mik3y
I have nearly finished watching all voyager series again and I am looking for a new ST series to satisfy my need for sci-fi. I have watched alittle bit of all the ST series, but never watched all of them except voyager. What would you recommend for a hardcore voyager fan like me? I kind of liked the few episodes of DS9 and the latest series I seen, but I havent had a chance to see them all yet.
Weyoun
Well, if you are into a continuous story line, I would definately go ds9. Some people have a hard time with the first series or two, but it gets good after that. If not, go with TNG. It is pretty good, but it shows its age. In the beginning it is a bit cheesy, but after a little while you get used to it, and it really is fun. If you really want great graphics, and don't mind continuity problems, go with Enterprise. It is a bit clumsy, and again, it doesn't really fit with the other series, but with only Voyager to compare it to, you shouldn't have too much of an issue with it. And lastly there is TOS. It shows its age more so than any of the others, and it has really bad graphics, so only watch this show if you don't mind that. I had a friend that wanted to watch every ep, and after about 10 he gave up on ST altogether(He wanted to watch everything in order, starting with TOS and going from there). Mik3y
Thanks for your recommendations Weyoun, anyone else got some more imput? Personally I dont think I will find anything as satisfying as voyager as I've watched it over and over, and still dont get bored of it :) However I intend to finally watch every episode of every series, just not sure what eposode to start next. Annika
I'd say either TNG or DS9. I like TNG but I noticed that men seem to like DS9 more often  Personally I like TOS a lot, but only for a single episode every now and then. I don't think I'd watch a lot of them all at once. What I missed in Enterprise was the humor of the rest of Star Trek. It's all a bit darker, a bit more death and destruction... but hey, a true Trekkie doesn't miss anything :D My 20-year old son is a big Voyager-fan too, but so far I haven't been able to convince him to watch any other Star Trek. He's convinced that nothing can be that good :D
BarneyCletus
Have you seen all the movies? They'd be a good place to test the water with TOS and TNG. I love DS9 but I'm not sure if it's the one for you. Most people tend to prefer this or VOY. Rarely do they like both the same amount. But then you may end up preferring it. Test the last series of TNG (the best) and the third series of DS9 (where it starts to get good but before there is too much backstory to catch up with). You'd probably like Enterprise too. The major complaints about it were that the first two series didn't stray too far from VOY. I can't see that being much of a problem for you. And series 3 and 4 are even better. theaveng
I kind of liked the few episodes of DS9 and the latest series I seen' date=' but I havent had a chance to see them all yet.[/quote'] I'd recommend Babylon 5. And before people flame me, I don't think a person should limit himself to just Trek. Babylon 5 is the #1 best sci-fi show (followed by DS9=#2), so why not go straight to the best??? Start with the movie "In the Beginning", followed by "The Gathering", and then seasons 1, 2, et cetera. Babylon 5 is a "novel for tv" and must-viewing for everyone. And if you enjoy books: Forever War, Foundation, Caves of Steel, Hyperion, Speaker for the Dead, Mote in God's Eye troy
TFMF
DS9 deffinetly - Has plenty of action in the later seasons. There are some great episodes in the early seasons too - The last episode of Season 1 and the first 3 episodes of season 2 make up an amzing arc about a rebelian on Bajor. All of the episodes in DS9 have somthing new to offer. Massive battles between fleets of ships, mysteries to be solved, holodeck fun, DS9 gets taken over and of course Quark. grimace
And if you enjoy books: Forever War, Foundation, Caves of Steel, Hyperion, Speaker for the Dead, Mote in God's Eye troy I found Speaker of the Dead to be too slow for my taste. I think the series original, Ender's Game and it's alternate version, Ender's Shadow are better reads.
theaveng
I found Ender's Game to be too childish (repetitive/lacking depth). Speaker for the Dead was a much more intricate story... good for an adult novel. troy
martog
Babylon 5 Oh, you said Trek series. Well, DSN and Voyager are similar in the respect that they both carry a very long story arc (Voyager trying to reach Earth and DSN with her Dominion War). This being said, I would still choose Star Trek: The Next Generation. All of the series have standout Actors but TNG had Patrick Stewart and Brint Spiner. They could literally carry a scene to Mars alone, but when together they can scale the rim. TNG made the universe of DSN and VOY possible and really gave trek some merit. Watch TNG and DSN; then prepare yourself for Babylon 5. By far the best sci-fi show ever made. Sorry Trek :(
