MrEvil
I have to say the New Series impresses me more than the Original. Mainly because this new BSG has alot of things that made DS9 so excellent. Politics, Religeon, and war. No surprising since Ron Moore worked extensively on TNG and DS9. Cypha01
Well, last August I said it was more like a soap opera, and while I still had positive things to say Season 01 didnt win me over, I still dont like it much. But im glad I kept trying to give this show another chance, because season 2 has just got better and better, and im happy to say its definitly the best sci-fi show in the TV world. Its just a shame nothing else is up to this quality of writing (yes Russel T Davies im looking at you). Still, my only complaint is I wish there was more of the cylons, and I also miss there voices...But since this show seems to be a slow build up with many sub-plots, perhaps ill get something infantry/war related later on. Ryshtyan
I was a huge fan of the original BSG series, but I was just a kid then. Now as an adult, I still like BSG, but it's very obvious now just how "kiddish" it is compared to the new BSG that has since made it's debut. I'll be honest. Originally, I refused to pay any attention to BSG. When I heard Starbuck and Boomer were turned into girls, I felt that was an insult to the original series and the actors who originated those characters. But, as I watched the new BSG, I found myself hooked in real fast. I like both series, but if I had to choose which of them had the better collection of talent, scripts and screenplays, it would be the BSG we see today. The one in 1978 definitely had room for improvement, which is probably why it only lasted one season anyway. And, the 1980 version of it was the worst possible thing that could ever happen to that series. What a joke that was! I could point out that the original BSG probably would have done much better if they had a broader budget and better access to whatever material they needed to make their shows more believable, but the original Star Trek series didn't have much to go on either and yet they managed to pull off what the original BSG series couldn't, and that was last more than just one season without interruption. I'd really like to see more than just Richard Hatch in the new BSG universe. He's just one of the original actors from the original series that has shown up in the new series. I'd like to see some of the others appear too. Dirk Benedict is one that definitely comes to mind. There's also a few others, but he's the one that stands out the most right now. I have this "sick" thought of him actually being one of the 12 Cylon agents that have been configured to look like a human. That would be neat. Okay, getting back to which is better; the old BSG or the new BSG. Setting special effects aside, as that part is just unfair to compare because of the 25-year time gap between the two series, I'd have to pick the new BSG. MaestroUK
You can use the time spent on T&A to flesh out the story and characters rather than show off the characters flesh. Not only do I agree with what you said but this line made me :D What's worse is that many fans of the original show will have seen it as a kid and may want to show off the new series to their kids. But with all that 'adult' content they'll probably feel that they can't. Anyone know if the DVD's have an option to show it sans porn etc? I'd probably enjoy it more myself like that! :cyclops:
p3master
I think the new one is far better that the old one with the new better special effects. :D
MaestroUK
You mean Baltars zipper is CGI?! Crikey there goes half the budget! :D
idejunior
I think that two versions is fine ! B) Each one in your time ! The first is fantastic for new, at that time, incredible effects ! :cyclops: The second is more darkness ! B) I would like that producers DONT STOP the new Battlestar Galactica on middle !! ;)
magestorm
Well, one thing I am liking about the new one is the issue of habitable planets. Besides the colonies, there has only been two habitable worlds. In the old one, there were habitable worlds all frakking over the place.

magestorm
I'm also liking how in the new BSG, you see that things are taking far longer to shape up. In the original, you suddenly see Casseopia go from a Facilitator (read prostitute) to a Med Tech in one episode. Excuse me, but wouldn't it take longer to become a med tech than one lousy epsisode? In the new one, some people have things to do. But many are just trying to figure out their places in the new world they are living in.
