doctor who reconstructions questions

hello,

i have a question or two about the doctor who reconstructions. me and my housemates are watching the whole series starting at S1E1 and we are trying to see all the eps. i found the loose cannon version of marco polo and it was very cool. my housemate who is a huge fan had never seen it before and he was so happy. i think it's a great way for fans to see the lost classics. but as an extension of this i have some questions:

1) who is the best group doing recons? is it loose cannon?

2) are any of these on dvd instead of vhs? i transfered my copy of marco polo to dvd, but the fidelity is not great. it has green and purple horizontal lines that fade in an out and flicker intermittantly on the screen. not sure if this is on the originals or it is from converting the avi files to mpg in nerovision.

3) is there a source (torrent site, etc) where i can find/download the rest of the recons? i can't find 'the crusade' around or 'the dalek master plan.' have they all been up here in the past?

4) does anyone have the loose cannon making of marco polo?

i am enjoying this forum. there has been great links and info posted here!

regards,

derek...

I'm also working my way through the Hartnell era.

1) As far as I can tell there's only the Loose Cannon recons. The Beeb put out audio

versions with narration, which are also quite a cool way to enjoy the lost episodes.

2) Loose Cannon only produce them on VHS. For more info their website is

www.recons.com. I'm not so technically astute, but I'd guess the problem is on the

VHS that the avi files were made from (some of my copies have that wobble about

them that suggests someone should adjust the tracking on their video).

3) Try demonoid. Lots of Who there. A search there like Doctor Who The Complete

William Hartnell Collectio will get you everything from the era. There are also

individual story torrents. Some of the eps in the Complete WH are of especially

dubious quality. Particularly, Galaxy 4. Marco Polo and Reign of Terror have been

the best so far.

4) I'm not sure there is a making of Marco Polo, but see their web site for info.

Hope that helps. Have fun. 'Mission to the Unknown' is up next, at least round my gaff that is.

Tons of stuff about the recons at the following links, including canon's home page.

In answer to some of your questions, there is a recon of dalek masterplan, and its pretty good. There are other people doing recons as well, but cannon are accepted as being the best of the bunch.

If you cant find the recons here, try www.isohunt.com; dont visit it with internet explorer though as they will kill you with pop ups and crap, use mozilla firefox instead to be safer. You have been warned!! But its a good resource for bittorrent.

oh yeah, imo the best set of apps for screwing around with video conversions is gknot available from doom9.org, you may be able to clean up or tweak the quality of your avi a bit with it.

Happy hunting
