Mabe it should start off w/ a temperial distrtion where the star trek universe is thrown into the universe of star wars and the 3 main pwers of star trek ( federation, romulan, kilingon ) have to band together and fight the evil Galactic Empire and bring peace to both universes, oh yea, throw the borg some where in the plot line and let them fend for them selves....

Ok, well....that was pathetic...

We need to show this fourm to Pharamount and beg them to choose an idea from here and just porduce it...PLEASE

mabe if we beg them ;)

Three words: Star Studded Mini-series. Keifer Sutherland as a Starfleet commander, on trial for a series of crimes, culminating in the destruction of his ship, and death of his captain. At the beginning of the series, it isn't revealed what he did, and throughout the series, the events are revealed through testimony, etc. Donald Sutherland could make an appearance as the commander's father, the Admiral, and you could have all of today's biggest names appear in various roles. If you get good writers for it, and a good director, it would get the general population to tune in, and could become the new "big show", revitalizing the Star Trek franchise.

Yes, something like this would indeed be the best thing for the Star Trek franchise at this point, and I really really hope they never do anything even remotely similar.

For me, the show has always been at it's best when they're actually doing something interesting... not getting trapped in some pointless anomaly or saving some pointless race of aliens that we'll never hear about again. It was infinitely more interesting to see Picard standing off against the Romulans or Sisko sneaking about trying to win the Dominion war....

Big names are NOT the answer and never will be. Yes they can help, obviously because a lot of people are shallow but look at BSG that came out of NOWHERE. The only real name in there was Adama... admittedly it's an established name but still.

Personally, I think that Star Trek has a lot to learn from the likes of BSG. All sci-fi does.

To me, Enterprise demonstrated that one can't simply remove treknobabble and have a good show again. Star Trek has become, very much, a tried and tested formula. The jokes about the episode generators that Berman and co used hardly seems fictional.

Science-fiction isn't a genre, it's merely a setting. Star Trek has, since TNG very much lost the character development. Plot and character development are what are needed, this is what HAS to be involved in any new Star Trek show if it's to succeed and not pull an Enterprise.

Ultimately, exploring the BLAR'TY race - ever so slightly different from another race - or running into an inverted, phased polarised ion storm that causes a cascade failure in the shield harmonics will never be as interesting as human drama. Regardless of setting, this is what the next Star Trek show needs - that and a little break. It has been almost 20 years of solid trek.

Two ideas for something new:

>>> 1.

Star Trek: Task Force

Three ships together on a deep space mission. One of them could be the Titan with captain Riker. Deep space mission into Beta/Alpha quadrant. Or even to Gamma throught the wormhole. But the most important thing, three ships, three crews, all interacting, cooperating, dealing with each other. One big ship and two smaller. Perhaps Titan, a Nova class ship and some other, regular or supply vessel. Deep space missions would involve new races, but they would still be able to communicate with the Federation and to get assignments. If they would to explore Beta quadrant, we surely woud have some nice incidents with the Romulans B)

>>> 2.

Star Trek: ???

An old ship, used as a training vessel for cadets, gets lost somewhere. I know, you probably are going to say - another Voyager. But it would be the only way to keep them together on one ship for a log time ;) And I would really like to see cadets in action, how would they perform, I'd like to see them learnig, making mistakes, having difficulties adjusting to a new situation - and on a ship, not in the Academy. Of course there would be some senior staff with them, but only few.

Mabe if you replaced Mr. sutherland with Sean Bean, the man who played Tryvelyen in Golden Eye. And made the trial last only the first season if, that and he get off the charges and get a command in the middel of nowhere patroling the klingon Nutral zone when his ship is suddenly attacked. He soon realizes that he is on the front lines of a new glactic war aginst the klingons.

mabe the trial isn't nessecary but it can introduce him.

It should start off with the execution of B&B. You can only go up from there...

c4 ;)

Yeah, the ship should go back in time and kill them while they are children, thus creating a paradox. The Voyager, TNG, TOS, DS9, and ENT never happened, and there is no canon to stick to ;)

Well im pretty sure B4 will be in the next movie somehow or other, I think (essentially) turning data into B4 was pretty retarded, cuase it was pretty pointless seeing as how he is basically the same android only an eralier version.

In general I would like to see a movie set after yoyager, maybe a movie followed by a new series.

For once I would like the federation to actually "use" some of the techology they have got from the countless episodes where they got some amzing new techology and either squandered it or just didn't use for some reason or another.

Im sure a lot would come from VOY, but just hope that is made properly (aka without BB :mad:)

btw a war with the "Q" wouldnt be possible, they are omnipotent and also are not contsrianed by time or physics... kinda hard to fught with that

//btw2 why do the borg not have cloaks, when they have assimilated more than enough races to have the tech? :p

The Borg are too full of themselves for cloaks.

As for B4, I highly doubt he'll be in a new Star Trek movie, outside of a brief cameo. The ending of Nemesis was meant as a way to ease the pain of losing Data, not as a way to ensure his eventual return. He's only there so we can know that, in some part, Data isn't truly dead.

I thought that Spinder got them to kill off Data because he had no further interest in doing any more films?

Star Trek will never emphasise continuity because that greatly reduces the "pick up" factor. Which is what ultimately killed off Farscape, it became so much a soap opera that you couldn't miss an episode - which discourages people. Of course, with Berman and Bragnan out of the picture - who knows what might happen.
