Pella
I know these forum are primarily aimed at the TV series we watch watch, but I'm suprised to see that there are no threads about Star Wars, Aliens, Blade Runner, Matrix etc, just because we don't DL doesn't mean we can't talk talk about them - does it? MindTrick
I've haven't been here a long time (about 8-9months) but this site has always presented itself as a haven for scifi in general, with of course more focus on star trek. And with no new trek for awhile, things could get awful stale if we limited ourselfs to just Star Trek :)
Pella
So come on then what's your fav sci-fi movie (no including Franchises). Has anyone here seen Dark City?

psheldrake1
Not possible to list a favorite movie. There is too many great sci-fi flicks.
Beawulf
hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, tv series. Was much funnier imo, I was dissapointed in the movie for diluting it so much. for example the scene where ford convinces the demolition crew to let arthur have a break to go to the pub. in the tv show ford convinces them with a witty argument, in the movie he gives them beer. despite how partial I am to beer, I didnt find it funny. I also didnt see the point in the change, was it to appeal to a less intelligent audience? As for movies I liked, Equilibrium was great. I liked War or the worlds, but I am curious as to what happens afterwards... I would imagine the invaders wouldnt just leave it at that, they would probably work out what went wrong and invade again. In general I like any sci fi movie where a nuke does not save the day. I mention this because there was a tv movie on here the other day about a big earthquake in america, and they use nukes to save the day. *rolls eyes* edit: I also agree with psheldrake, it is very hard to pick a favourite. psheldrake1
I never have watched the newer version Hitchhiker. I didn't think they could have improved on the original program. I use to have the time to sit down and watch a flick, but these days are filled with work. And spare time I'm at the ANZA ( Australian/New Zealand Asso.) club for darts. I'LL be lucky if I'm able to watch what I've DL from this site.

meateater
Is Equilibrium that Matrix-ripoff from Asia? The one with that actor used in Onimusha games? For sci-fi movies, I would say Aliens rank pretty high in my list. "Get away from her, you b*%#@." Love it! :cyclops:

Ulysses
I have 10 favourite movies ;) All Star Trek... lol...being a film fan as well as a sci-fi fan i wouldnt say that most of the star trek films would actually get in my top ten of films, possibly one which is Wrath of Khan. 1st - Shindlers List (I was gob smacked, only film ive had a lump in my throat at the end, coz it was based on a real story) 2nd - Shawshank Redemption (love tim robbins and morgan freeman in this film) 3rd - Green Mile (wonderful written film) 4th - The Matrix (fresh angle on Sci-Fi, and great story) 5th - The Wrath Of Khan (gripping story far better than ANY trek film) 6th - Saving Private Ryan (first realistic war film to show the horrors of a war) 7th - We Where Soldiers (Again shows horrors of the Vietnam war and also the best Nam film, Gibson acting was very convincing as the CO.)
