enterprise7
What makes Star Trek, Star Trek, is that it examines human behaviour & relationships in extraordinary situations like space travel in the distant future. This setting makes for new & interesting explorations of human nature. THAT IS Star Trek, not some techno mumbo-jumbo that not everyone can understand (which is all fiction anyways). elderbear
Hollywood produces horrible marksmen...........My niece could shoot better! :p Either that or wonderful marksmen: Consider the scene with James Garner in Support your Local Sherrif. Garner is standing in the local hardware store and has been asked if he can shoot. Harry Morgan (I think) is playing the mayor who asks him. Garner reaches into a box of washers (with center holes a bit over 1/2"), flips one up in the air, draws, shoots at it, holsters his six gun, then catches the washer and says "See?" The mayor and town council are not impressed. Morgan places a piece of tape over the washer and hands it back to Garner. Garner does the same thing. This time the tape has been neatly punched out. That's MARKSMANSHIP! (As opposed to Marxmanship)

gleasonline
Every option the pole indicates is what makes a great Star Trek episode. Including, other. But more prominently, the greatest statement in all the Star Trek genre, "To Boldly go where no man/one has gone before". That is what makes a great Star Trek episode. When they do something they've never done, when they show you a crew and it has black, white, russian, chinese, japanese, borg, ferrengi, and other races and species just co-existing. It's exciting to see what we can make for ourselves, what we can strive to become. Kick ass ship battling scenes are great, Star Wars does that too though.(though not in the Enterprise) - but seriously, the best thing about Star Trek is when they do something really freaking awesome, and it came out of left field...or the grass nole.....now, it seems we've gotten to the point, probably not from just Star Trek, but from watching all media in general, where we can expect the the unexpected and not recieve the thrill intended. When Star Trek can shock us, they'll have the best episode on Enterprise that we couldn't imagine.(They could have let us pretend Scott Bakula was dead in last seasons finale, that would have shocked us - play it off for a episodes, don't even show his face, and don't leak the info the ST web-sites) - what would fans say to that? They'd say, "He'll probably come back like Spock in STIII.(hehe, smart asses) Anyway, that's my rant. - Mark

bbbb
Space exploration is the best feature of Trek. What episodes not involving the depths of space were the best?
