Anyhows anything is possible Mars may or may not have oil......... Truthfully, I could care less. Mars is of interest to me because of its religious & scientific value. .......Besides, I fully expect there to be plenty of minerals to mine for. :D

ROFLMAO! :p Reminds me of when Edward Abbey wrote a letter to Ms. magazine that started out "Dear Sirs:" B) PS: If you don't know who Edward Abbey is, get your behind down to your local library and check-out The Monkey Wrench Gang and Desert Solitaire. (You can buy them at a bookstore, too ...) Also of interest are his Hayduke Lives and Fools Regress.

Religious interest? As in C. S. Lewis' Out of the Silent Planet? Or some more arcane tradition? We already know that iron is abundant on Mars - so yeah, there ought to be PLENTY of minerals available there!

Tangents are a good emotional release, sometimes! ;) And tangents can sometimes lead to wonderful new discoveries! Serendipity ... finding what you weren't expecting ... the ingression of novelty ... temporarily reversing entropy (at least in an information theoretic sense) ... VonHelton
Actually, I have my own religious theories about Mars....... If anyone would like to hear them, let me know. I won't post them if most of you are board with religion, though.

VonHelton
Speak so all can here Von. Lets have at it. F em if they can't take a joke. It's your funeral....... :p Ok, here we go....... I have spent the last 25 years or so studying the various religions of the world in an unofficial capacity. While I freely admit that most of it could be called sporatic at best, I believe I'm light years ahead of my contemporaries, in sheer volume, if nothing else. Let's say for the sake of arguement that the Gods (plural) in their wisdom created a system of "nuggets of truth" hidden deep within every religion on Earth. Many relions speak of how difficult it is to get to Heaven, Vallhalla, Summer Fields, etc. Could this difficulty be due to the fact that you need to get the "keys" (I'll get back to that word later) from each religion to unlock the "door" to Heaven itself? My studies show that there is. Each religion does have certain aspects that link them together. .....No dogma needed or wanted. There was war in the Heavens.......Who is Mars named after? ;) A certain faction decided to rebel against the Gods, and we "cast down". The interesting thing about it is that many believe they were cast down to Earth...... True, but not at first. That comes much later..... Instead, I believe that they first went to Mars, and ravaged the planet & the inhabitants thereof. This, plus an asteroid strike, rendered the planet inhospitable. We know from other writings that many of the "Lost Civilizations" speak of space vehicles....... .....And traveling to the "Red Orb in the Sky". Mars? I believe so, yes. Since this faction hated humanity, they struck Mars first, essentially wiping out everyone & everything. Mars, at that time, shared a co-orbit with Earth, and was lush & green, but its red clay soil still gave it a reddish color from space. The asteroid strike flung Mars from its orbit. The asteroid strike was a "nessesary evil" in the hope of wiping out the majority of the rebellious faction's army. I don't believe the gods were successful in wiping out this "Army of Darkness", and when they regain their strength, they will set their sights on Earth itself. The Gods, fearing the continued fight, appointed one among them, the "God of Abrham" to establish a unique humanoid unto himself that would only follow him. That way, it would not be decieved. The mingling of this humanoid with the humanoids already on the planet was inevitable, so they were instructed to "come out from among them (infidels) & be ye seperate". Unfortunately, the passage of time has seen this unique type of humanoid not only intermingling with the others, but way too busy fighting amongst themselves that preparing for the coming war with the Army of Darkness. .....The Christians, Jews & Muslims are those people. This is the "Reader's Digest" version........What do you think of my conclusion?
