dva2082
When Spock basically killed himself so the Enterprise and Crew could be saved, what is it he did in that room? I was just wondering that.. Chris
nuages
He was preparing for a sequel. A good one too. II and III and IV :P which are all sort of linked together somewhat are my fav TOS movies IV less its mour humours which makes it good in a different way, i totally forget the real reason, he had to do something with the engine or something or the ship would explode or something or its orbit would decay or something. dva2082
Well, it LOOKS like he's releasing a lot of radiation so the ship can warp out before the genesis torpedo blows.. but I can't be sure.. Chris
bbbb
Whatever it was that he was doing he was setting Trek up for two more great movies. ST:IV is my all-time favorite Star Trek movie.

queenhank
And he wasn't setting up any more movies. When they made STII, Leonard Nimoy had wanted Spock dead, so he wouldn't be able to appear in more movies. He later came around a bit, and the director realized the ending needed an up-note, so they tacked on the scene with his coffin (torpedo casing) on the Genesis Planet. GeneralLee
When Spock basically killed himself so the Enterprise and Crew could be saved, what is it he did in that room? I was just wondering that.. Chris Wow, what an intense scene that was for true Star Trek fans, when that first was shown at the theaters. "The need of the many... out-weighs the need of the few... or the one...." Gives me goose bumps thinking about it... _The Wrath of Kahn_ , opened on theaters in the USA on MY BIRTHDAY (June 19th) in 1983. I saw it at the theaters the day it opened, in Naples Florida. I was about 26 years at the time I suppose, and it was the first time I ever cried while watching a movie. Not only was I crying, my girlfriend was crying, her sister and boyfriend were crying, hell, the whole theater was crying. ;) Spock, was a 'hero" to many of us as we grew up, and to watch him die, was just too much... Of course, we had an idea that would not be the end of him, but cry anyhow, we did... The Wrath of Kahn, is my favorite ST movie of all... ;)

Marcroft
If I remember my Mr Scott's guide to the Enterprise manual correctly - that section that Spock was in was the Dilithium matrix chamber - so I assume he was manually re-alighning the dilithium crystals. Spock, was a 'hero" to many of us as we grew up, and to watch him die, was just too much...[/quote'] Yeah I first saw it on TV around 1985 (before TNG existed), and I couldn't believe what I just saw. Spock dead?!?!? But then I did some research and I saw there was a sequel, and immediately bought the Search for Spock novelization. Whew! He's alive. For a 12-yr-old, that was truly traumatic. troy

That's it, I want to rewatch that now, and you all know that was a big two movie script to begin with. That's the first time I remember a two movie set-up.
