How many lost episodes do you think are out there in the hands of privater collectors? I don't think we'll any turn up now - too much time has passed. sheds a tear I would have loved to see 'The Power Of the Daleks' Pat Troughton's first story.

Bit then again, im starting to feel all paranoid that maybe someone got in there and made him an offer that they couldnt refuse, if it really was the genuine article..... this will probably have to go on my list of things to wonder about. What do you lot reckon?? I might mail the guy and ask him............... bet no one else has done that yet (joking!!)

********************EDIT*****************

Yknow, looking at that label, im sure ive never seen any film cans with that syntax at the BBC or any other place. that looks more like the info out of a very old radio times to me. I reckon this was another in a long tradition of hoaxes, after all ep 2 of masterplan just came back, it would be flukey indeed if the cutaway came back just months after...........

I smell a hoax. What do you lot think?

If anyones interested I googled a little for this and apparently it was a mixture of hoax and misunderstanding. Apparently all in the most accidental way, but apparently a genuine mix up rather than a deliberate hoax. Have a google for it.

I thought i'd never seen a label with anything like that written on it. Generally the labels had the code and name on em, not the entire cast. I was caught out for a minute, but as soon as you calm down from the initial aaaarrrggghhhh!!! Yow!!! factor, it was looking hokey.

ah well, a huge pity for all of us I guess. that would have been a nice addition to the skeleton of early dr who wouldnt it??

Considering that part 2 of the Dalek's Master Plan was only returned about a year and a half ago, I'd stay optimistic about it.

You know, there are still a lot of films in cans that people in archives simply do not bother checking and just rely on what's written on the sticker.

When those places (like the South African channels, the Chinese ones, TV Ontario, etc...) all decide to convert this to digital, I'd expect some finds to show up.

As a last result, you can always consider this: since our radio waves are sent into the far universe, maybe one day we'll travel far enough to reach a point where all our TV signals can be processed and re-recorded.. either that or a bunch of aliens come knocking asking for us to give them newer episodes! :)

Lol: So instead of saying "take me to your leader", I have to try "Have got any Doctor Who videos"

or

ET: Et phone home!

Pella (handing the cute little alien her mobile phone): While your there ask if they've recorded "The Celestial Toymaker"

:p

What you need is a worm hole to travel through, record and come back. LOL.

If the cans just had codes etc it is at least hopeful that some collector will have cans uncatalogued or mislabled.

I was born well after the Trouton era, and it'd be nice to see more.
