So...

You all know the story...

Microprose, Simon & Schuster, InterPlay & Acti - LACK OF - Vision all get different parts of the game franchise. Microprose get TNG and TOS, S&S get the majority of DS9, Interplay take the films (TMP) and TOS and Acti (lack of) Vision concentrate on TNG.

Microprose go bust, S&S screw up, Interplay falls apart due to the BioWare incident and our friends at Activision take over the entire games franchise in 1999 to a massive round of applause from every gaming site...except mine.

4 years later Activision file a lawsuit in 2002/3 against Viacom (the REAL owners of star trek) and basically terminate the game contract. Since then there has ben no new games since the last Activision release...Elite Force 2...which sucked like a tornado and blew like a hurricane (can ya tell i didnt like EF2?).

Everything was dead...until Harry Lang from Viacom (the owners of paramount) who is the head of the products division agreed to a first interview with a fan site...EVER...in 2004...

Lately we have gained an interview from Daron Stinnett, the lead developer of this famed MMORPG trek game due for release in 2007/8

Everyone thinks that the new MMORPG is the only trek game coming out...

...it isnt...

STG (name of my site) teased out some info from Harry Lang again at the beginning of this year. There is another game in the works, single/multiplay based which was "previously cancelled" and comes uner the strategy genre.

I'll be trying to get more news about this from Viacom before the end of the year :)

It's handy being the oldest trek gaming fan site around...

Quality Control was certainly lacking from a lot of Star Trek games, Starfleet Academy, Elite Force, Armada (lots of bugs with this one), Dominion Wars (too many bugs to list in a decade). I have one thing to tell Star Trek game developers:

FIX THE DAMM BUGS BEFORE RELEASING THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!

mmmm these bugs in games seem to be more and more often popping up, and end up with 4 or 5 patches to get it right.
