Question about the U.S.S. Titan...

At the end of Nemesis Riker was given command to the U.S.S. Titan, which one would assume is a relatively new vessel...I was curious about its Class/armament etc however I was unable to find any information about it on the Startrek.com Library...

Anybody know anything about the U.S.S. Titan?

Well it credits Paramount Entertainment at the bottom and several credible sci fi artists, as well as nasa.com and space.com....So maybe it is.

But IF it is, HOLY GOD, that thing's a BEAST! Where would they have gotten these specs from though, I wonder if ST.com just doesn't stay updated - because there's absolutely nothing on it about Titan-Class starships...But this thing is incredible, 1400 meters long! 16 phaser arrays, 8 rapid fire torpedo tubes...It's like a Defiant only 80 times bigger with 2,100 people onboard...It's the Next-Generation Enterprise E basically.

Crazy.

The Sovereign class ship really changed the scope of Starfleet ship design. Clearly Starfleet was more concerned with battles than exploration after the first Borg incursion. perhaps this means that Starfleet will become more militaristic in the future?

The Borg threat, the Romulan threat, the Dominion threat... All good reasons to start building ships that were designed for combat. ;) But it would appear that Voyager and Deep Space Nine have dealt with all of those threats. If a new series is ever made (that takes place after Nemesis), a new villain may heve to be invented. :stare:

As for the Titan, as far as I'm aware, the only thing known about it is that Riker is the captain. We may never know what class it is, but I suspect it's an existing class ship. I'm sure he wouldn't settle for anything less than a Sovereign, though. ;)

just watched nemesis to have a look at the titan. man i should have read this first. what a disappointment.

however i foundthis link which is the only ine i found which does not speculate on anything

also (sorry to say) as much as i love TNG pat stewart let the film down. i think he is over familiar with his role and treats movies like a fun day out rather than a trek episode. i dont begrudge him fun but it detracts from picard and the movie.

on the plus side, crackin story, great battle, coool ending with a bit if a tear jerker when data buys it. oh yeah and picard loses it at he end.

mostly good, shame about the titan

good stuff
