TetsuoShima
I believe (not quite sure) both S0V13t and GeneralLee have tried it, maybe you ask them for more info...
SevensSuit
I am also interested in this. However after reading through the comments i suppose it is not as ST related as you might think considering the title. I guess the main twist of this "edition" is all the software included for 'free' and that's pretty much it. Besides the level of ST content i would also like to know if C: is the default install folder for win/appz/crakks or if i could also install it on another partition and use a boot manager. CrazyMan
WinXP Borg is a custom made cd or DVD of windows xp. It will install a whole list of other programs, The list of programs will be what ever the maker of this cd or DVD wanted to add. Also there will be reg tweaks among other type of tweaks. There isnt anything to do with ST in the winxp borg I downloaded a few months ago. But Im sure they have released a new one sence the time I downloaded one ( They have one out its a 4.1 version that comes with some ST wallpaper and a few other things ), So who knows for sure whats in the latest one out... S0V13T
Yeah, I used Borg 4.1 for a few months a little while back. Lets see here, what to say about it. it's not all that Trek related, although the installer is hilarious. Takes the real XP installer, and changes the wording to be Borg NEW WINBORG MEDIAPLAYER VERSION 9 makes previous versions irrelevent. Now you can sort and listen to your pirated MP3's faster. That, and it has a HUGE collection of Trek wall papers. They call it "Borg" edition, becuase it has SP2 slipstreamed, a lot of third party mods (the UXtheme hack, tcp/ip connections patch, etc) built in, etc. er... sorry, can't really remember much more about it. I think I packed it in when my 80 gb hard drive broks, and I started using a 10 gigger, and anther version of XP that was only 300mb to install. GeneralLee
A torrent for this was added to Nites tracker, ver 4.0, about 232 days ago, by: "BartofBorg" BorgXp on Nite's You can read about this here in detail, but you have to register with the site first. A direct link to the area of that forum for BorgXp ver 4.1 after you may have registered, is here I installed this about two weeks ago, and tho it was a fun install, overall, I was not happy with the results. For one, I was never asked for a serial number during the install, and since Sp2 was slip-streamed into this, I had no idea of the legitamacy of "my" serial number. And now, unless you are careful, Windows Update wants to download and install a program that can verify the authenticity of your Xp install and serial number. Also, I wanted to reformat the partition I was installing this too during the process, and did not come across the option to do so, at the point I am familiar with during a normal Xp Pro install. Also, the install setup Windows automatically, in ways I do not like, and I never saw an option to change or set these items. For example, the date/time stamp, was completely different then what I in the USA am used to (It had the complete year first, followed by the date and the month) and I could not see a way to change it. Also, the control panel was in a format I am not used to anymore, and try as I could, I could not locate where the system restore area was. The install, performs a series of tweaks and all, but, I really had no idea exactly what these were, without coming accross them in the future by accident. I'd prefer to have a fresh install, and tweak things myself as needed. That way I can be sure they are done, and how they are done... not someone elses' idea of how they should be done. Also, the installer gave no option for me to add my name or a name of my choice to the install, to be used in the Documents and settings folder(s). Instead, the default name was "Administrator." Not exactly what I had in mind. The burned DVD contains tons of added software you can optionally install, all sorts of assorted drivers, hacks, keygens, and serial numbers..., but then again, I'd prefer to do all that on my own. All in all, it's a cool program, and Bart puts a lot of work into it, but personally, I think I for one would prefer to do something like this on my own, and slipstream Sp2 into Xp, with most or all of the main programs I prefer to use on my own system. GeneralLee
C4, I have all sorts of Xp key changers and viewers, such as: WindowsXP Product Key Viewer.exe Xp serial changer xpsp1.zip XPProCorp-keyChanger.exe etc., even a list of (once?) valid Xp serial numbers I created a few years back called: Xp Pro Corp Serial numbers for SP1 to work.txt In my case tho, I have a valid Xp Pro Corp. serial number, and prefer to use that one, since I know it works, and has worked, even after Sp1 and Sp2 were installed. Others may find the link helpful tho.
