Potato
I'm back and since no one picked it up in my absence it's time to make up for lost time: Macra Terror: The Doctor and company land on a planet run like a giant holiday camp. A man called Medok tells the Doctor that the place is secretly being infiltrated by giant crab-like creatures called the Macra. The Macra are in fact controlling the place and have conditioned the workers to quarry the deadly gas the Macra need to survive. The Doctor cuts off the Macra's gas supplies and Ben blows up the pumps thus defeating the Macra. Faceless Ones: The TARDIS materializes at Gatwick Airport on the runway right in front of an incoming jet. Polly and Ben are kidnapped and the Doctor discovers that others have disappeared as well. The kidnappers turn out to be a race from another planet, the Chamelions, who have lost their identities and faces in a nuclear explosion. The Doctor frees the 50,000 human captives whom the Chameleons were using to take over their identities and helps the Chameleons survive. Ben and Polly stay behind when they realize that it is the same day they originally left. Evil of the Daleks: The TARDIS is stolen from Gatwick Airport and driven off in a lorry. The Doctor and Jamie follow it to a shop run by Edward Waterfield. All three are transported 100 years into the past. There the Doctor discovers that the Daleks are holding Waterfields daughter Victoria hostage. This is how they persuaded Waterfield to help the lure the Doctor to 1866. They want "the Human Factor" which they believe will help them finally defeat humans and become the dominant race in the universe. The plan backfires when three Daleks implanted with the Human Factor become friendly and playful. The Daleks take everyone to Skaro where the emporer Dalek reveals that the true reason for the experiment was to develope the Dalek Factor and infect the Doctor and humanity with it. The Doctor proves to be immune to the Dalek Factor but pretends to help in order to infect more Daleks with the Human Factor. Civil War soon erupts between the real Daleks and the humanized Daleks. Waterfield dies saving the Doctor. Victoria escapes in the TARDIS with the Doctor and Jamie.

Potato
Wow!!! No discussion at all! I guess all the Classic Who Fans are on vacation or something. On the other hand the whole Doctor Who area seems to be practically bereft of life lately. Hmmm.
Cypha01
Troughton era is the best IMO,and you just gave three examples why. While most people think the tom baker era is the best, I think its absolutely nothing on the chilling black and white atmosphere of this era. Troughton owns, so get your coat and scarf Tom. Potato
My wife hates Troughton. She doesn't like Doctor Who much anyway, but she refuses to even let me watch Troughton when she's home. This is all because she didn't like "Seeds of Death". I sometimes feel sorry for her, because "Krotons" was the first Who I ever saw and I think she just doesn't get it. I love "Evil of the Daleks" even though I've never seen it, I do have the old Audio Cassette version with one of the Bakers narrating it.
drken
I read the Evil of the Daleks novilization and I thougt it was a good story and it's a shame we can't watch any of it. From what I've seen of the existing episodes of the Faceless Ones I really liked it. It was more like a Pertwee story I think than other troughton stories. Any if you wife can't stand troughten because of Seeds, I think there's little hope. It was one of the first troughten stories I really liked. Potato
Yeah, I know...sad really. The only ones she really will watch with me are some of the McCoy episodes. Maybe once I get the Eccelston ones she'll watch those.
drken
I couldn't even get my girlfriend to watch one second of Eccelston with me. Reality is sad.
Potato
I did get her to agree to watch one. Now, I'll just have to pick the right one. Of course I'll have to see them first to do that.
Felix
Hm, must see/ hear/ read those stories... Hehe, I've been forcing my girlfriend to watch Doctor Who with me. Now she curses everytime she gets the theme-song on her mind. "OooooEEeeOOOO...". Also, some insidental music from "Tomb of the Cybermen" wirs around in her head (Think it's the Cybermen-theme, not sure). I don't think she'll ever forgive me for showing her these shows. :)
moshdaddy
Yeah, my wife and the doctor don't mix. But at least she goes for Masterpiece Theater...so it's alright. Mosh
