Doing crazy smart things that astound people all throughout season 1 untill they finally gave up the wesley saves everything all the time idea, does imply he was quite smart, infact had ALOT of brains. Whn I saw TNG for the 1st time I liked Wesley a lot. but as I grew up and re-watched the series... I started disliking him more n more. If u're gonna ask WHY... thn I don't know. Ok fine he wasn't an idiot in the typical sense BUT he was too much of a goody 2 shoes and I ended up disliking his character. Specially from the episode where Tom Paris actor played cadet who got 2 pilots killed trying to pull a fancy maneuver and Wesley betrays him. And Quark would bite wesleys head off, (if we told quark that weasley latinum from him, then wesley is dead meant). By the way, check out star trek 107 - "The Last Outpost". Quark is in there. If we are talking a matchup of brains, Wesley wins, hands down.
