Centurion
I was just taking a look at Simonsays.com and found this interesting piece of news regarding Riker's new ship: Starship Titan Design Contest Winner Here are the images: Luna-Class Deep Space Exploration Vessel... I've never heard that one before! Anyway, do you think it's official now?
TetsuoShima
Is it just my imagination or is this some sort of (major) adaptation of an interpid class? Looks a bit like an intrepid with some more bells and wistles to me. Never heard of this before either btw. Maybe they'll feature it in the next Star Trek movie... :)
Bapman
Mehhh... don't like the design. Looks like the freak hunchback child of an Intrepid and an Akira. BUT That' just me.
maverick
im not keen either. i dont understand the thing on the top. whatever it is, it makes it look like a pansy's ship. unless its for blowing things up....:D
Wazer
It's not clear what design they are using there sems to be at least two versions. If they have Riker/Troy :) in a new movie it would be good to see something like this. Is that thing on top the bridge?
Centurion
^^ I'm not sure. Actually, the bridge appears to be located in the saucer section... What surprised me most though was that it's an exploration vessel, which, in my opinion, doesn't fit her name (Titan) and her Captain. Something like the Prometheus would be a better choice, I suppose.
Tenebrae
Yeah, looks a LOT like an Intrepid/Akira hybrid... I'd like to have seen something more original.
Steveo
If a new film had Frakes in he best lay off whatever he's been knocking back to make him look so fat and old, my guess is he's been drinking paint stripper.
Duggie
This is not an official design from Paramount because there is no copywrite information in any corner. I think some website thought it would be fun to design it and have a contest doing so. It is like all those that over the last few months designing the new Nintendo Revelutions new controller trying to guess what it would look like. AmbSuvak
I think it's fascinating! Lots of Starfleet vessels are hybrids or so, but so what?! Who cares?! Galaxy-class is pretty similar to Ambassador, and Sovereign looks like stretched Galaxy OR Ambassador-class and STILL people have nothing to say about it. All that matters is that they're pretty and they have a superpower. But definately some of Enterprise-D/E crew should play in it - at least Riker and Troy. ;) But in generally - FASCINATING !! TFMF
If you look at that fouth image gatefan uploaded - it actually has some resemblance to the Enterprise NX. But know i din't like the design that much - it might be quite a good ship without that bit sticking out at the top ^though i agree AmbSuvak - there's nothing wrong with StarFleet using Hybrids in Vessel construction

This is coming from Simon & Schuster, the company that publishes all Star Trek books and is integrated with Paramount as part of the Viacom Group. So there's a pretty good chance it's the real thing. Bapman
If they were gonna do hybrid... I'd have preferred a Prometheus and a Sovereign child... or Defiant and Galaxy... or even better... Dominion cruiser design with Federation ship. Besides... this design really isn't that creative other the top thing... in the beginning I thought it looked exactly like the AKIRA. Seriously... cut out the top part and look. It's even got the bottom torpedo launcher.... wait... or is that the main deflector !?
Arktis
I really like this design, even the thinger at the top is cool IMO. One thing bothers me, though. Has there ever been a solution presented for the warp drive's damaging effects? 'Cause I don't see that the Federation has foregone designing ships with warp drives for some other technology. This little fact sits at the back of my mind, nagging me.

Actualy the Design is the Lunar. there where supposed to be 12 ships of that class. They are named after teh 12 moons in the SOL system. At least that is what i remember. i lent the book to my friend.

This little fact sits at the back of my mind, nagging me. That's why the new nacelle designs are different... 'cause not all of them can afford to bend their nacelles like Intrepid. It's the strechy effect that cause it. The longer the better or best is none. VOYAGER and Sovereign from 1st contact had very long strechy warp effect while NEMESIS no strechyness. See... problem solved ;)
philly
The nacelles look out of place on the pictures, maybe if they were shorter they would look more effective.

Wazer
Just worked out how those pics work I do find it unusual how the nacelles stick downward fromthe hull rather than up. It makes the whole ship slope from front to back rather than the normal nacelles sort of balencing the saucer section. ( this is sleeker ) However without knowing what that bit on top is it seems odd. They would have a great 360 view from there though. :)
philly
The nacelles look like they are longer than a galaxy class nacelle, which is very weird for a ship of that size
