Diana Muldaur or Gates McFadden

I have recently been watching Season Two of The Next Generation and have come to the conclusion that Pulaski played a far better role in moving the plots of episodes than Crusher in all the other seasons combined. So I pose the question to the board, who was your favorite actor and character, Pulaski or Crusher? I can only recall one moment and two reasons where Crusher had anything to say or was an effective character. Her "moment" was in Best of Both Worlds when she mentions nanoprobes (only to swiftly let you down in her time estimations for weaponization) and her two reasons for survival were to add the element of family into the script (which O'Brien solved) and that she was younger than Pulaski (age descrimination?) Dr. Kate Pulaski, in my opinion, was the better actor and brought more to the stores than Dr. Beverly Crusher. She preformed well in a slew of episodes from season two while Crusher never had much too add (accept for making Picard uncomfortable at all those morning breakfasts).

Any Thoughts or Comments?

i've always disliked pulaski greatly, i found her charchter to be contrived, boring, and i just wanted her to leave because i hated her personality greatly, season 2 of TNG is deffently my least favourite season of any star trek ever. She was a female McCoy and that just didn't work with all the other charchters in TNG. Way to much of a TOS charchter for TNG. She is my least favourite star trek charchter and will continue to be.

I found Pulaski to be open, dignified, thoughtful, courageous, dilligent, intelligent and stubborn. Just because she didn't have a pretty smile, more makup than a clown, and a pushup bra is no reason to dismiss her. She's one of my favorite Trek characters and definately my favortie Trek doctor.

The only realistic criticism that I have heard is over the way she treats Data at first. But that's all part of the whole character growth/development/gaining of wisdom through experience theme which is ever present in the Star Trek series. And besides, it's a welcome bit of sharp realism to see different people's attitudes towards Data.

Gates McFadden for me as well. Never liked Diana Muldaur's character. Thought she was too nasty to Data. Treated him like a coffee pot or something...
