I actualy dont think that the prophets stituation was that clear cut. I actuly see their power to see the future as more of a guide and not a clean cut deal. You see, They can see every possibility of the future, but its free will of ppl ( linear beings ) that choose the future. I think that you forgot why thoes jem hedar ships disappeared. Beacuse Sisko "wanted to end the game" and the prophets couldn't allow that. If the prophets could see that, then they would have known sisko would want to end the game- but they looked kinda supried when he came in to the wormhole and they didnt know what he was doing.

The Prophets can not control free will and that is why they made thoes ships disapare.

Yes but watch 7x01/7x02 it's pretty much stated that the Prophets are the reason the Dominion are winning the war between s6 and s7.

They just happen to be a wonderful deus ex machina for the script writers who realised, despite the fact the Defiant et al kept striking critical blow after blow the Dominion were just too powerful. So magically, you have the Prophets being the "deciding factor".

No, they aren't controlling free will... but if you watch the season 7 openers and tell me that they aren't saying almost verbatim the Prophets are some magical force behind Federation success, well we're clearing not watching the say show.

And if you're saying the Prophets only see potential futures, well - then you're making them more like the S3 multi-dimensional aliens. Which I don't think they are and of course the reason they couldn't have Sisko dying was that he had to go destroy the Pah'Wraith forever and ever...

Although whether that would have been necessary if Kai Winn hadn't stopped "the reckoning" is another question entirely.

*sigh* why can't you just be happy with what you get - i mean just because the Prophets are stopping the Dominion from entering the Alpha Quad - so what!?!?. and remember - it's not as if they did this for nothing - the episode Reckoning was where we see Jake being taken from Ben as a cost and would have succeeded had it not been for Kai Winn

If you're being negative and I'm being positive - will we cancel each other out? ;)

I know that the Prophet/Emissary storyline was longer running than the Dominion War but really, I feel that their magical intervention cheapened the war. Clearly you don't agree - let's move on.
