Here I'm in a private chatroom. Most are about the age of 12-22 though. Most from China, or Italy and New York. That other window is from a 14 yr old girl who sent me a random msg. I can type pinyin mandarin when I feel like it though, but prefer English. This program is a hell of a lot better than anything out there. Lots of animated emoticons, and can send pics in a room and share files. It also has some features that MSN 7 beta has started to use, such as those animated nudges with images, like the water ballon boy. But QQ also can change skins, skin colors, send SMS, webcam, and video.

It can play games and there are over 100 different chatrooms that load on the browser, but it helps if you know Chinese since most ppl on here don't speak English, except for the curious girls lol.

My personal opinion, all those US programs are dated. They are severely lacking in features and graphics quality compared to the Chinese IM software. Why else would one need so many of them if it were not the case? It's not for variety that's for sure. Either one has a feature you like and the other doesn't, and that's why you use it. QQ on the other hand has everything and more than what you can get with the US IM software. Unfortunately, you need to know Chinese to really understand all the features and communicate. You can always experiment by hitting different buttons to try and figure it out lol.

The only US IM I use is MSN. I erased Yahoo, AOL, and ICQ. They've got poor graphics and limited or non existent customability. Most friends I have now are on QQ anyway, and far more people use it since there are usually over 7 million Chinese online. Some are curious to learn English, so you might make a new friend pretty quick, or a few million.

I use trillian basic just because I have one group of friends who refuses to leave MSN and one group of friends who refuses to leave AIM. Even if I were only using one, though, I'd still use a third-party client... the official ones are too ad and spy-ware infested for my tastes. Plus AIM started doing audio ads now? No thanks. I think I should be allowed to slit the throat of anyone who makes my speakers make noise without my permission.

I use MSN mainly, most of my friends and family use that IM. I do have AIM an my computer but it is only to contact my brother at his work when needed.

Rashind, I can feel your pain, I too would not like it if an ad started talking to me. Its bad enough they move accross your screen, and move when you scroll to keep it on top.
