Star Trek: Legacy announced

According to the article the game is an action-strategy hybrid title for both the PC and Xbox 360 and will actually span the entire Star Trek timeline, from Enterprise to the original series to the Next Gen-DS9-Voyager timeframes...

A few things I will say is that it's been a long time coming. Like I said before, traditional ST single player/multi player games have returned - and before STO ships like I also said. And no, just because it was announced in this issue, doesn't mean development just started. As for bugs, well, different publisher, and much more stringent requirements for Xbox 360. And as for graphics, once you see the screenshots and this thing in motion, you will be blown away.

Sounds great. I wonder if it will be released before the highly anticipated mmorpg Star Trek: Online? I do think they need something new, not just another FPS or RTS. A hybrid FPS/RTS like Natural Selection or Savage would be awesome.

Discuss.

I hope the ability of the game creators is superior to that of the articulation of like I said, the article writer. ;)

I haven't actually ever bought any Star Trek games or even played any but I think you have to be cautious with console crossovers... although, as it's the x-box 360 perhaps it won't be as poor as some of the x-box/pc crossovers of the past. Sounds like it's early days anyway - so really passing comment seems pointless.

Well yeah, the game could be good, or not.

its probably the same thing with sex games, they think the subject (star trek in this case) is good enough for people to buy it, so the gameplay sucks

and for ppl who dont like al the star trek series it wont be good to, because i dont think there will be a full scale game for all the series

Theres a 6 page article in the Feb issue of Game Informer. Its looks really nice and the guys making it are Trek fans.

So there are some pictures of concept art or something? It was just announced so I doubt they are even in a Alpha of any sort, but it is possible I guess.

No its pictures of the actual game build. It may have just been announced but its been in development a while. I'm sure you can find some pictures on various game sites or just go to an EB Games or Gamestop to buy (or read) the magazine.

Star Trek games typically fail in the short and long terms. We are NOT looking for another RTS or FPS, EF and Armada have filled that gap. If they make another ST game they better make sure it is COMPLETE from beginning of the Trek universe (ENT), including the ST movies (because the Connie refit is my favorite ship!), through all the various series and timelines. This is a VERY BIG undertaking that should not become just another Trek title like Starship Creator. If you want us to be blown away by this game, make it GOOD! We should be able to make add-on levels EASILY, like in Jedi Knight.

These guys should really take a long look at the superior STAR WARS games and research why they were so much better than the old Star Trek games. I still play TIE Fighter, Jedi Knight, Rebellion and Battlefront from time to time. I don't play Armada, EF or even Bridge Commander much anymore.

One might argue that the nature of the Star Wars universe lends itself better to games.

I suppose to be glib - Star Wars is just a bigger universe, with more possibilities and less burdened by backstory and techobabble. Plus you have the far more evocative good vs. evil type story line as personified in the Force and Rebels vs Empire and let's face it, Star Trek doesn't have anything as remotely cool as ISDs or Jedi.

I suppose there is just some indefinable X type quality of cool in the Star Wars universe that is generally lacking in Star Trek. After all "Punch it, Chewie!" will always be better than "Mr. Data - warp one, engage!" At least in mine eyes.

B) After reading the wold artical I believe that they have a great start the question is now can they follow up and make this a great xbox 360 game. And alot of people are correct there have not been that many great star trek games vs. star wars titles. But it's time for a realy good star trek game. As for the release date in the mag they gave a Sept. 2006 release date where ST online has once agin been pushed back to early 2007. I just hope that they are not rushing this out to hide the fact that st online is running into troubles. I also believe that they should all pick up a controller and play a few star wars games and see what keep pleople playing these games 1,2,4,7 years down the road. B)
