Firefly - "Season 2"

While I know we have a sticky thread for Firefly discussion already, this is something new and actually needs more attention in a new thread (seriously).

From /.

"It seems that Brilliant Screen Entertainment is looking to see if there is an audience for a second season of the science fiction show FireFly. From the article: 'It's possible that subscribers may choose one of three playback options; monthly DVD deliveries' date=' TV On-Demand using your cable or satellite provider, or computer viewing via Streaming Download."[/quote']

From http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/01/25/2146257

You can find the survey for a possible season 2 Right Here.

While you may be thinking "is this legit?" There are a few signs pointing to yes.

- Brilliant Screen Entertainment is a real company that does this sort of business.

- Normally surveys and petitions don't amount to jack *hit right? Well the last time fans spoke up, they created a movie out of thin air.

- Most of the folks over at Whedonesque.com are reacting positive about it. Whedonesque is one of the very few blog-style comment sites that Joss Whedon will report too from time to time. (though he hasn't reported this, yet). So I've learned to trust the instincts of the over 70,000 people who read there, daily.

So try the survey and maybe our hopes will come to fruition down the road

Browncoats stick together ;)

Been there (heard rumors of revived shows).

Done that.

Never happened. Sorry guys, but when you've had your hopes dashed repeatedly (like the B5 Movie that never happened), you learn to be skeptical.

Also, from a practical matter, I think Whedon's movie Trilogy will effectively cancel the possibility of a season 2 (same reason why Babylon 5 could not be revived... the characters no longer live there / some are dead).

You should check the fansites. The guy behind this (named Ace Underhill, made some money with stupid online games) can't be trusted. The "leaders" of the big fansites (who have a long experience with such things) decided not so support this, as have many fans.

I think it's all a publicity stunt which seems to work unfortunately .

Babylon 5 was meant to be a five year/five season story. The movies were just a bonus, this is why Crusade failed cause it really wasn't meant to be).

As for "never going to happen" check out the link for "thin air" in the original post. How do you think we got Serenity made? Whedon got support from the fans, Universal listened to us and we got a movie. And Fen is right, the same thing happened with Family Guy. Thanks to fan support, strong dvd sales, etc we got more of it. Which actually goes aganist your entire arguement for anti pirating by the way, even as pirated as Firefly and Family Guy are, their dvd sales have been through the roof over the last two years.

I've always said that there's a side story that could follow the 5 year B5 storyline, which takes place in the B5 universe, and follows on the heels of the events in B5... this became Crusade.

This was not the first time someone's taken a run at a B5 feature film, and it will not be the last. Eventually it will happen, because such things are simply inevitable. If they can do a Brady Bunch movie, you can be sure that sooner or later, somebody's going to do a B5 movie. The only thing I can say without equivocation is that when that day comes, as the rights-holder, I will make darned sure that it's done right.

The B5 Feature Film was a bonus. Crusade was planned from Day 1.

Dreams are bunk, they better come up with something better than that or a bunch of people will lose it quick. We all know that a show can be saved for at least a season, but I'd rather let it go than watch Whedon keeping us occupied with second rate story lines.

Ok you got me there, but come on I haven't checked newsgroups for actual news/discussion in god..years and years now, not since the dawn of fansites and forums for spoilers and such (aka the last 5-8 years).

Even if Crusade was meant to be "from day one" it really was a letdown. Granted that is a personal opinion, and yours may differ, however I find alot of B5 fans tend to agree Crusade was pretty piss poor compared to the five year epic that was Babylon 5.

ok sorry, back ontopic ;o
