Again... I agree with Tenebrae.

I was really impressed with the Wraith one 1st half of Season and the finale [The Siege]

But now... they really do look silly.

 

I understand wht Cpt. MAV said tht the writers are walking a fine line but another prob is appearance.

Example... the Go'uld were never taken seriously... until SOKAR n ANUBIS made their appearance.

With the Wraith the prob is... people meaning the SGA team are not scared of them ENOUGH... and they kill Wraiths in too great number. They need to show them be scared sh|tless of the wraith.

Like in ST: TNG whnever u heard the mention of the BORG the audience would go OH CRAP n TNG crew would crap their pants.

in VOY after Scorpion... it became like... BORGS... so wht... we'll go heist their CUBE.

 

Same with SGA... now they can capture Wraiths... experiement on them and even have the courage to crack bad jokes.

Stop those and their need to talk to their food... it'll get better.

They flounce around their ships growling, shouting and stomping off.

 

I think that SG-1 and SGA have struggled to provide "serious" bad guys - with the exception of the Replicators but even they got "nerfed". I think deep down, they struggle to avoid the campy villains of Bond... even Anubis ended up as a big fat guy.

I have to agree. In the beginning the Wraith seemed unstoppable. We saw them with strengths such as draining the life out of people and near-invulnerability. But now they seem to have lost a lot of their powers.

 

- It now only takes a few bullets to knock them out where as before there seemed to be nothing that could stand in their way.

 

- Wraith hive ships somehow managed to destroy the Ancients and yet Atlantis has stood strong before them time and time again even though they don't have the knowledge to even operate half of the city. The severe power shortage to Atlantis should also be a significant weakness for Atlantis but clearly they still have just enough left to destory the Wraith before the lights go out.

 

- The idea of wraith being able to drain the life out of a person is ruined by the fact Wraith can also 'Give back' life. (Although in some ways this can be seen as an additional strength.

 

Admittedly i do like the whole idea of how the Wraith are 'waking up' from their long feast and the cliffhanger to the last episode of Atlantis was very good. But you just know another weakness in the Wraith will be discovered to save the day.

To be honest, the Wraith aren't great but they're pretty much more powerful than every single generic Trek race... I mean, really - they're just life draining Gouald but at the same time, they're a LOT harder to kill.
