OK FYI, You are not a Star Trek fan. That's fine, there's nothing wrong with not liking Star Trek. It's great that you found a place in your heart for a little show called ST:DS9, but you can not call yourself a Star Trek fan if Spock and Kirk are your LEAST favorite characters in the Star Trek universe. The Star Trek universe exists because of them, most especially because of Spock. No Spock, no TNG, no DS9, no VOY, no ENT.

Somebody back me up here.

Yeah, I'm not getting how you can hate spock and kirk, yet claim to like star trek. Funny also that you named pretty much every main character from DS9, and most of the most common guest stars. I gotta say though, Weyoun was a good pick, he is so wonderfully deceitful, yet charming. I'm not getting how Tom Paris and Chakotay keep getting consistantly low ratings, while the friggin annoying ass doctor keeps doing so well (he is only slightly cooler in ECH mode). Thoughts?

You guys need to get onto the thread about What's your favourite trek series and back me up there -my viewpoint on people not watching TOS and calling themselves fans is v clear.

I'm getting a nice discussion (=argument) goinf

You don't seem to grasp that there are other opinions in this world than your own and that they might actually be quite different from yours. Please, don't sprout ignorant bullshit about how someone can't be a "real" star trek fan just because they don't like a certain character or a specific show, it's highly retarded.

Thoughts?[/quote']That's sort of the whole point. The reason I love the Doctor so much is that he's completely unlikeable, has no social skills, and is completely oblivious, and even with all that is a valuable part of the crew.

Now what I don't get is how anyone could say they like O'Brian. What a worthless character. In seven years, they couldn't think of a single thing for him to do that didn't make him seem redundant. He's just the engineer. That's all he is. His personality is more bland than any character on Enterprise. And Colm Meaney can't act.

I grasp the existence of other opinions perfectly well, I was simply hoping for some clarification of how they can hold such opinions. Hating Spock and Kirk pretty much means that you dislike all of The Original Series, which was the foundation for all Star Trek to follow. God forbid that people should have a discussion in this thread rather than simply pitch lists at one another.

You should have asked for clarification then, instead of going off like an elitist prick.

In that case, I'm not too fond of TOS either. It's too campy for my taste. And William Shatner is one of the most annoying actors that has ever existed. Barely any acting ability and he's sleazy as hell.

LOL, what a load of crap! OK first off Star trek existed from the imagination of Gene Roddenberry. I 'personally' cannot stand TOS, as mentioned previously it's campy (If I wanted camp I'd watch the Carry On films) and generally the characters are dull as dishwater. What I found interesting was the triumvarite of Spock/Bones/Kirk, although it was better portrayed in Riker/Picard/Data.

TOS as I recall was not that successful and only lasted 3 series before being cancelled. And the third series was terrible in almost every way. TNG I liked becasue of the above mentioned relationships, although the first 2 series are fairly shite. DS9 however, for a show that i despised so much on first viewing, when you watch it in order it's the best constructed/performed/executed series of all of them.

Voyager is worse than TOS with poor characters (Except Doctor) and unbelievable morals/ethics/stories.

So, in conclusion, TOS did pave the way, but insisting that people must love it is a ridiculous point of view and just goes to show your ignorance in the structure of good television.

How's that for not bitchy.

POW!

Oh and for those who care:

3) Garak

2) Picard

1) Gul Dakat
