Federation vs. Scarrans

Ship to Ship or Hand to Hand?

Ship combat, Federation wins, again. They have shield technology plus equal or greater fire power. Scarrans lack shield technology just like Peacekeepers. Though the Scarran vessels are larger and much cooler looking than PK'er ships.

Hand to Hand, Scarrans easily win. Strength wise they are stronger than Humans whom compose the majority of Starfleet. They are pretty armored aganist small arms fire so I think it would take a half dozen phaser rifles set a max to take one Warrior caste Scarran down. Plus, their ace in the hole is their telepathy attacks. We know that brings humans down to almost nothing, so I think we could assume it would do the same for all the other races in the Fleet.

Since 90% of Trek's combat is Ship based, I say Feds win.

If it's total war - Scarrans. I mean, effectively Scarrans are like Jem'Hadar on acid.

Bigger, stronger, nastier, they can take a hell of a beating from energy weapons and they can do their heat probes.

To win a war all they would need to do is be in a position to put troops (and they did outnumber the peacekeepers 10-1, so we know they have a lot of them) on a lot of Federation worlds. Of course, that would leave them open to orbital bombardment... but all they need to do is eliminate the support structure of the Federation and wait for them to fall.

But I suppose realistically - Feds.

The same argument applies as in the Feds vs Peacekeepers debate- the Federation has the superior technology, and so would probably win. Not to mention the fact that the Scarrans would be rather intent on taking out the galaxy, so the Feds could call in their alliances with the Klingons, Romulans etc...

Now a Klingon hand-to-hand with a Scarran....Taking all bets people!

Hmm - apparently Dreadnoughts do have defence shields. You wouldn't know it though... what with the big red shield used in the episode they first appear in. Well' date=' that might well change the playing field.[/quote']

Episode name/number?

*edit* Scarrans first appear in the "Princess triology", 2x11 through 2x13. Granted it is only, one Scarran and no ships, that is still their first appearance on the show.

The Farscape wiki on Dreadnaughts does say they posess Defense Shields but this itself is a plot hole. (compare the military strength of Scarrans to PK'ers...a defense shield just kinda nullifies any offense aganist them).

There is no conclusive evidence that Federation tech is more advanced than Scarran or PK tech. Each is capable of traveling interstellar distances quickly, all have powerful weapons, all have effective shield technology (which is often negated by the powerful weapons they use), stealth tecnology (Luxans, Klingons and Romulans) and each group possesses technologies for which the others have no analogue. Anyways let's not forget the Borg has superior technology yet often met defeat at the hands of the Federation. Superior technology does not guaranty battlefield superiority.

As far as the second question, a Klingon would be no match for a Scarran. A Jem' Hadar however...
