TFMF
Still' date=' I'm running Opera now and am quite happy with it, given all the tests you see on the web (speed/security/critical bugs/...) I find it strange that not more people use it, since it beats the competition (for windows) in nearly every test out there. I guess people are simply not as efficiently promoting it. Anyway, as long as I'm happy with Opera, I see no reason to change.[/quote'] i haven't actually tried Firefox yet but from what i've heard it has some problems.... Opera is just great for me but i would like to know where i could get plugins for it....anyone know (other than the Opera website)
x5315
i'm trying opera on my pda, works pretty well as you can see. i must say, Opera seems the most ported browser out there. Has anyone found a way to run Mosaic on Windows XP for some old school 1337 surfing? Also, don't you have to pay for Opera? Kind of a downside? or is it just for an adfree version? remedyu
i use firefox with all the extensions at home' date=' i use Opera@USB at school, gets round the security stuff. however, on my pda, i use IE, just cause that's all i have. Are there many browsers for PDAs?[/quote'] There is Opera Mobile, check out their site. You can use it on you mobile phone too! Yeah, I can't use Fire Fox on my pda phone :( so I use Opera mobile for that. But it's not as great as the Opera for the desktop.

I haven't had any issues with it, other than some sites will ONLY allow sign-in or download with a version of IE. Still trying out the IE7. Nice programme, but not configurable for the true geek. i don't know really - some security issues mainly - but that might have been an older version of FF - i may try it out some time and decide for myself :)
DarkPlague
I use the latest version of Firefox, IE only if I have to.

But it's a brand new copy with no tweakes.

Mav
Firefox 1.5.x I used IE typically like most for a while. I tried Opera a while back, didn't like it. Then I got into IE modifications like MyIE2 which later became Maxthon. While it added alot of cool enhancements it still was often left vulnerable to most of the IE flaws. I gave Firefox a try one day, forced my self to stick with it and loved it since. It uses more RAM than IE but hey, it's also x10 more secure. I love all the extensions I can use, I mean Adblock + Flashblock + NoScript means extremely little gets through that I don't want. Literally if I just use Firefox for like a month straight and never open IE, and then do a spyware scan, I'll get like 1 result and that's always a simple tracking cookie (the lowest and most common form of spyware). Whereas if I used IE, I'd probably have so much stuff... Once you go Firefox (and give it an honest try for a few weeks) you won't go back. *edit* Wanted to point out, S0V13T, I have the same embedded video issue in Firefox. I think it's more of a safety error really, cause sometimes FF has no problem playing embedded stuff, other times *shrug*. Though I have noticed it's almost always an issue with .wmv .asf .wma embedded stuff. Embeded flash, embedded Quicktime, embedded .avi/.mpg's almost always load in FF. But those WMP streams that are embedded, they are a crap shoot if they will work. Thats why I have the IE View extension installed. Right click a page/link and you have an option in the menu to open that current page or highlight link in IE. If IE is good for one thing it's being compatible with Windows format media. Megalith
Just found this thread :) voted FireFox 1.5. I have used IE, opera and mozilla before and am sticking with FF for the time being. Not much to choose tho between any of the Mozilla based Internet explorers (Mozilla, Opera, FireFox etc) and any is better than IE.
TetsuoShima
euhm, as far as I know, and I'm pretty certain: opera is not mozilla based, it is a completely seperate/original design by the Norse company. At least, I'm pretty sure it is....
Megalith
My apologies opera is indeed a norwegian development... i have been believing netscape became opera... dunno why but none the less it along with any mozilla software is better than IE
