VonHelton
J. Michael Stracynski, creator of Babylon 5, says he'd like a shot at running Star Trek, and already has a premise for a new Star Trek tv series ready to go. Here's the newsgroup post he made Monday: You can find those newsgroup posts here: http://www.jmsnews.com/msg.aspx?id=1-17286 and here: http://www.jmsnews.com/msg.aspx?ID=1-17287 What do you think? Should he have a chance to revive Star Trek, or is it a good thing that he called his campaign off? :stare:

vyper
He's already changed his mind anyway. It's SciFi you want to watch out for now - they're chatter of them wanting to take over the show.

nuddicrous
That's crazy news, though i'd be super-pleased to see JMS at the helm of Star Trek. He knows the value of established writers who dont have the name 'Berman', and his own talents are undeniable... case in point, Babylon 5 season 3... that's all his writing ladies and gents. I'm still dead-set against the cancellation of Enterprise though. It's the scripted series on TV that isn't CSI.

Elessar
I meant to post here last night but somehow...IDK how but I didn't end up gettin it through. I'd say I'm glad Trek didn't end up in his hands, he's not part of the Trek world, who knows where he'd take the storyline. He's got such little conviction and drive towards Trek the day that Paramount called him and told him ST was dead in the water he called it off when they offered him another job. Forget him, he's not Trek.
Sanjuro
I heard that JMS approached Paramount years ago with an idea for a Trek series set on a spacestation. They said no, so he left and made B5 and then Paramount went ahead and made DS9. Or was this just a rumour?
VonHelton
I'd say I'm glad Trek didn't end up in his hands' date=' he's not part of the Trek world, who knows where he'd take the storyline.[/quote'] Perhaps not, but at least he knows what the word "Canon" means, and how to stay within it, unlike Bermann & Braga. :o
Elessar
Go read Niteshdw's post about people whining about canon, he's right - it's that kind of complaining that killed Enterprise in the first place... Think about this concept of canon for a moment in the context of a prequel-set show...If you follow every rule set out from the beginning, there couldn't be any surprises, what the hell is the fun in there being a conflict with say...Humans and Andorians and being like "oh don't worry they'll become friends next episode, it's canon" F that, that ruins the point of watching to find OUT what happens. mic
f**k JSM he is egotistical pig of a man, he doesn't deserve to get ST
butters
f**k JSM he is egotistical pig of a man' date=' he doesn't deserve to get ST[/quote'] Perhaps, but he's one of the best scifi writers out there. Babylon 5 blew away every other scifi series I've ever watched storywise; I'd like to see what he could do with a decent budget.
