USWhoFan
I suspect that anytime now we should be seeing a “Gene Roddenberry Channel†popping up on the satellite or cable systems. I think there is certainly enough material for it, all the Star Trek stuff, Andromeda, Earth: Final Conflict and many more accreditations can go to him and not just Sci-Fi stuff. Should this channel exist or isn’t there enough material or interest? What are you thoughts and opinions? vystral
Wow that's an interesting idea. I think overall there probably is enough material. The only problem would be funding. I do believe they'd have to resort to infomercials for most funding, just like G4 and Spike.
Arktis
Yeah but it would rule as long as the infomercials only sold geek products.
Mav
I don't think they should have informericals at all. I mean of the people who are awake at those hours usually are geeks, or people who work second shift jobs are are up those times.
bones2097
umm i'd say there isn't enough material unless its a 6-12pm kinda channel (a half one in my opinion)..... rather it be a cult sci-fi channel (i duno how much classic sci fi is shown on the sci fi channel!!)... then it could be a complete channel.... TFMF
It would be the perfect channel for new fans - they could watch whole seasons of trek within weeks! :)
Tenebrae
So you'd have what... all of Trek, Earth: Final Conflict, Andromeda... That must be - with full credits and some form of intermission between episodes... maybe 4 solid weeks of programming. So that would be each episode of everything 13 times a year. Pavey1991
So if you missed it you could see it next month. I don't see a problem with that. =P

wahaha
It'd put me to sleep, like driving a diesel. The only interesting aspect of his work is ST. The other shows are bores.
queenhank
Well, all of Trek is one hell of a lot of TV. And if you throw in the movies and Animated Adventures, then you've got about a month of stuff right there.
Tenebrae
It's 22 solid days, or thereabouts. But this theoretical channel is going to have a pretty limited appeal and let's face it of all the times to consider such a proposition, now is probably the lowest point of Treks popularity. Not that I expect this to actually happen.
queenhank
22 days? An hour per episode (commercials included), an average of 26 episodes per season, and...let's see...28 seasons...728 hours, roughly...plus ten movies at 2 hours each, and AA, at 22 half-hour episodes... Let's round off to 760 hours. That's 31 and two thirds days. So, yeah, a month of Trek, assuming a non-stop marathon. What they would need is a new Trek show to help with their launch. I'd say make it a Trek channel, and have the other Roddenberry shows on in the early morning and late night, as bookends to the infomercials. They could also have a Trekkies-style reality show (yes, I, too, hate reality shows...but they get ratings), and they could have other Trek-related shows and movies, like maybe having a Patrick Stewart day (showing movies with him, etc.) and such. It would also have to be a non-basic cable channel. One of the ones you have to order specifically.
