ceedj
This absolutely can NOT be considered one of the worst Trek episodes (as some have alluded to), for this single line: Brain, BRAIN, WHAT IS BRAIN!?!? Discuss. With a straight face. If you can. :)
Mav
Never saw it myself (I've only seen a few TOS eps to be honest). Summarize for me?
ceedj
Glad to. In what has to be the most hokiest episode of Trek of all time, a woman steals Spock's brain for use as a utilities regulator on her home planet, leading Kirk and crew to go on a mission to retrieve it I'm not making this up. This episode includes multiple takes of Kirk saying "What have you done with Spock's Brain???", which leads to the line I quoted above. The kicker is that McCoy and Scotty wire up a remote control so that Spock can walk around while they try to find his brain. When they do, McCoy takes a zap from a "learner" (think old-school plastic salon helmet) and gets the knowledge he needs to rewire Spock's brain back to his head. But he can only keep the information for a short time, and begins to "forget" how to finish the procedure. So what does he do? Wire up Spock's vocal cords so that Spock can talk him through the rest of it. Probably the franchises' most unintentionally funny episode ever. Great stuff. :)
Mav
Nice... Strangely enough you'd think they'd incorporate "learner"'s into the other series. Coupled with the time span maybe someone could make it's effects last forever. Or at the least let someone boost their skills for a shortime to help them. Imagine if Geordi or Data took a hit off of it then strength the Enterprise's shields aganist their first Borg attack o_O I'll check this episode out sometime, sounds hilarious, in a good way. Thanks for the summary.
Tenebrae
I remember it, it was pretty stupid... But then my memories of TOS are from reruns when I was but a child and everytime I saw it "Oh, another random planet that is... EXACTLY LIKE EARTH."
