Chewbacca
I could see Laurence Fishburne as a captain. I actually think he'd make a pretty darn good captain. :P
vxn
Picard! He's the best! Idol!!! :p I think he is the most... "businesslike" ;) captain from all of them! Even though he is so pacifistic... Greetz!
Daedrus
Picard was rather good as a diplomat and a thinker but I think Sisko from the later seasons of DS9 against the Dominion pushed him over the top as the best captain. His style of command was great while on the bridge of the Defiant as it mowed through those.. what.. 1500 Dominion ships?.. in Favor the Bold/Sacrifice of the Angels. WTF is up with Archer anyways? I have season 2 and 3 and i'm so confused.. in some episodes he's a great captain, in others I think he's wasted on the set..

[/quote'] During Season 2 & 3 there was a vaccume of qualified writers.....This may explain that. Now that Manny is in overall charge of the writing, hopefully that will no longer occur. romulanguy
Well, I voted for Cap. Picard, but I have to say that I liked him in the movies, not in SNG.......he was more an Enterprise captain in Nemesis than in SNG, in mine opinion....... My second vote was for Cap. Janeway......her rule as a captain of a lost ship so far from home, her diplomaci when the Maki and the Starfleet were together in the same ship, her determination to bring Seven back to humanity but respecting her individuallity......there are so many things to say about her, but I can't wright in english very well..... :( About cap. Sisko I can't say much things.....only next month tcap. he 5th season will be transmited here in Brazil :stare: Cap. Kirk was to much "cowboy" in my opinion Cap. Archer is cool, but I thing he is too much ingenuos.....remember his surprise in the "Choosen Healm", when those fanatic taked Enterprise? To stupid for a Starfleet captain. And someone can explain me why everytime he has something important to say he start to walking around, shaking his head???????? This is so odd. Anyway, I LOVE Enterprise, with or without Archer. This is all. Sorry for my broken english....I'm too lazzy to learn it. :p
Chewbacca
I think Picard was definately the best. Some of you think that he is too much of a diplomat to be a good captain, but I believe this is one of the main factors that makes him the best captain. I believe that you shouls use diplomacy first, and resort to violence only if all other options fail, or if they are threatening to attack you. botshifter
I don't think anyone is trying to downplay the importance of diplomacy for a Captain, but diplomacy is more important for Admirals. Exploration should be the main goal of a ship Captain. I like the fact that Picard wasn't looking for a fight, but he was just to scared of new ideas. Anytime the ship went somewhere it wasn't supposed to, instead of using the situation as a chance for observation and learning, he just tried to get back home as quickly as possible. Relentless
I voted Captain Jonothan Archer, he's rather new and interesting to me so far... and he has this sort of hard-dont-mess-with-me look to him B)

I noticed the same exact thing about him. It is so hard to focus on what he is saying becuase he constantly moves around and keeps moving his shoulders. Whenever Picard or janeway had something important to say, they would be cool and relaxed. Archer seems nervous, or rather unsettlled by events. Chewbacca
wasnt scotty promoed to captain? he had the star trek equivalent of a shopping trolley, but captain is captain! Yes he was. I know he appeared in an episode of TNG (can't remember the episode name... Relics I think?) However, when I made this poll, I decided to include only the major captains. jhug666
Sisko, simply put he bent the rules when nessercary. Picard was just to-by-the-book although he did become more human like (emotionally) during the movies, Kirk = rule braker +sexaholic. Archer =to green and janeway failed to recognise that morality had to be bent in the delta quadrent to get home faster Sisko was always ready to take the risks and to take the blame e.g. in "for the uniform"
