Mindwalker
It kicks ass. And it's "In The Pirkinning". A parody on Star Trek's Kirk and Babylon 5's movie In The Beginning.
Mav
There was a thread about this around the time it came out. It had it's amusing moments, heh Dwarf and Info instead of Worf and Data ;o I actually didn't care for it, due to the "parody" of American goverments. I really disliked how Russia was the country to "come out on top" (even though they did Pirks dirty work), while America just gets lambasted ;\ Do a search for it through the forums, I had alot more points about the subject and such. Mindwalker
But you can handle alternate timelines in Star Trek where the good guys are evil? (TOS: "Mirror, Mirror").

(it was annoying at first to read subtiltes but i got used to it and it really didnt make the move worse I liked hearing them talk in sweedish... if that is what its called, They sounded really funny)
Mav
Yes. There's a difference between a United Federation of Planets being an evil Empire in a mirror universe than a fanfilm portrayed by a foreign group of fans. As I pointed out in other discussions on this, you hardly saw any of the European nations harmed or destroyed, and while I appreciated how America was one of the few nations to attempt to launch a counter attack to Pirk's demands, but we were basically the only country to get completed nuked to death ;(

Hilander72
It's a great fan made parody and worth watching a few times. @ShadowGhost The spoken language in Sweden is obviously Swedish and in Finland (aka Suomi) it's Finnish (but Swedish is an official language in Finland). People will always want to go against the stream. And as one of the most powerful nations in the world, the states catches a lot of flak. Not only that, but their aggressive and deceptive foreign policy just makes it worse. While I try to stay off the bandwagon, I don't blame the rest of the world for wanting to poke their collective finger in the united states eye. I say: suck it up! It's just a fan made science fiction parody, after all.

While I try to stay off the bandwagon, I don't blame the rest of the world for wanting to poke their collective finger in the united states eye. I say: suck it up! It's just a fan made science fiction parody, after all. Bear with me, I'm going to copy paste some stuff from my thread over at the official Star Wreck forums. I'm registered over there as "randomfan" (for obvious reasons). See, it's not so much that America was nessarily destroyed while other countries were deemed "liberated". It's not even the fact the script directly labels America as "the old devil" amongst other things. No, its a standard Americans are held too that is unfair. Take an America group of Trek fans. We would never, ever, make such a film where not only was the world enslaved but where we as Americans destroy entire other nations at a whim for world dominance. Also using America as an example, say we made a large Trek fan film like Star Wreck. If America was portrayed as say, destroying China, Japan or even Russia with a large scale nuclear assault, you can bet you would hear global outcry from political leaders around the world citing this as reason why America deems itself superior or how we view ourselves compared to other countries. Now take this Finnish group, who does the same thing. America is destroyed and you see people cheering it. Fans crying out how they loved it. There's no outcry aganist it, nothing. It's basically saying "it's ok to destroy America, as example in this 'parody', while yet you 'liberate' other countries." That is the message it sends out. And yes as I later point out in a really long thread that debates that original post of mine, I realize it's a "parody". Just a funny movie made by Trek fans, a fan film. But even so ya know, over the last couple years alot of us are ashamed to even be Americans. Even people who support our current government, are now or have questioned it recently due to various actions they've taken. We get alot of flak as you even mentioned, for something most of us will never have control over or any say in. And it's exactly as I put it in my original post there, I honestly think if American fans had done the same thing, except the country to be completed nuked was Russia, Germany or even China while America was "liberated" then you'd see it all over news sites on the internet the moment someone in one of those countries saw it and took even the slightest of offense to it (which we all know even 1 out of 1,000,000 would) yet reversed most people are just *shrug* as if they don't care. It's a double standard America is held to in such, works of writing, movies, music, etc Sure as said it's a fan film and everything, and I do not mean to insult any one from other countries or nationalities. I hold no ill will aganist fans from any nation, not even the people who made the film. I do however think the makers of the film could have used some better judgement in what was said or done. When you think of how serious many middle eastern countries are when they say the "western white man" is to blame for things and then the reality of the current wars and such it's a real blow to see us referred to as "the old white devil" and other such things. Exterus
I still think you're overreacting. As for the US getting flak and that most of the population has nothing to do with what the goverment does, the movie doesn't "make fun" of you personally or even the general population. It was the united states as a country and its goverments actions it portrayed in that manner. So by your own logic, there really no need for you to be offended, is it?
