ST:O Non-rendered screenshots

MMORPG.com has a Q&A session with game producer Daron Stinnett.

The bread and butter of the interview is, to go along side with their rendered screens they released a couple weeks ago, they now have two screens up from actual in-game footage.

While I still personally believe these look spectacular, you can tell there is a difference in the renders and in-game graphics. Obviously the renders, which probably would be used on things such as cut-scenes or elaborate loading screens for zones, are going to look slightly better than typical in-game graphics.

The in-games still look great. The only real difference is there are some jaggies going on in areas that bend or have curvatures. A little anti aliasing should cover that, if your video card can support the good stuff (8x or better I'd assume).

Either way the it still looks great even with a slight quality hit. You can check out the whole interivew right here.

Nice screenshots.

But I believe the word you were actually looking for was PRE-RENDERED.

A game has to render it's graphics in real-time so you can see what's going on. Cutscenes are often PRE-rendered at a higher quality.

Well, I meant "non rendered" somewhat.

A week or two ago, Perpetual released several actual "rendered" screenshots. A few of the interior of the ship, and one of the observation lounge (from a side view, including the rather hot officer we see there). You could tell these were pre rendered, as they were almost flawless in their outcome and such. Just as you'd expect for cutscenes and other stuff.

These, are actual screens from typical ingame footage. By non rendered I meant, these aren't your typical fancey screens or trailers that are suped up for asthetic value. If that makes any sense..
