VonHelton
Despite a fan campaign to encourage the Sci-Fi channel to pick up Star Trek: Enterprise, TV Guide is reporting that the cable network has no interest in producing new episodes of the cancelled series. You can find the brief report here: http://www.tvguide.com/news/entertainment/050217.asp What do you think? Is Sci-Fi making a mistake, or are they right to pass on Enterprise? :stare:
ingenier03
That is a huge mistake. They got in good when they picked up Star Gate. And they let Spike get away with TNG and DS9. If UPN can't keep up with Enterprise someone should. After what they have accomplished this season they can't just let the series die off. The second season was kind of a struggle and I'm glad they got away from the Temporal Cold War. Last season was a stretch with the Zindi but still it was a good season. And yes with the way this season is going the writers are going to run out of the original material but they seem to have been resourceful so far in the series. VonHelton
If UPN can't keep up with Enterprise someone should. They could've moved the show to all of the CBS channels at any time, and saved the show. :stare:
vystral
So SciFi will pick up a debunked Sunday late night show like Stargate, but they won't pick up a dynasty like Star Trek? I can't believe it.

ssarbyug50
So SciFi will pick up a debunked Sunday late night show like Stargate, but they won't pick up a dynasty like Star Trek? I can't believe it. Not sure what you are talking about there. Before Sci-fi picked up Stargate it had 5 (FIVE) sucessful seasons on Showtime (the US cable movie network which it aired) with 100 + episodes (Stargate reached it's 100th episode in season 5). Hmmmm Enterprise will only have 4 seasons and LESS than 100 episodes? Why diss a more sucessful show ???? Are you jealous? I love Star Trek very much, Enterprise the least out of all ofthem. Although, season 4 has been impressive. Why diss Stargate though?!?! Season 1-5 on Showtime and season 6-9+ on scifi. We'll never know the reason for the change from Showtime to Sci-fi - but there it gained even more life and popularity. From Showtime to Scifi- it has remained in virtually the same timeslot and the same day since 1997. FRIDAY. And 8PM or 9PM - usually at 8pm. now Sg-1 is at 8PM, and SG:A at 9PM. HARDLY LATE NIGHT Would be cool if Sci-fi took on Enterprise, maybe it could replace the leaving Andromeda? But with 3 mega hits like Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1, and Stargate: Atlantis, who knows?
david999
it would be nice if the poor people of australia could get sci fi channel with out having to wait years for free to air to play great shows like enterprise stargate &galatica, if they can enterprise now just when its starting to get interesting they should give up the game altogether" :cyclops:
Duggie
That is dated Febuary 17th. The news of a 3million dollar donar could change things. Also what I was hearing from Chris, one of the mods at TU, Sci-Fi could still be a possibility. But he says most likely it could end up on CBS. vystral
No, I'm not a Stargate fan. You've got to admit, anything Star Trek has alot more going for it than anything Stargate. No offense meant.

No offense meant.[/quote'] that is your opinion, you do realize that? you know that that is not a fact, right? i basically shot down everything negative that you said about stargate. Stargate was more sucessful before it moved to Sci-fi and it is way more sucessful now. And those are not opinions :P Who is going on their 9th season and who is getting cancelled after 4? Let us not turn this into an argument though. :) I do enjoy Enterprise, just not as much as older treks or stargate. Sci-fi fans seem to agree. vystral
I'm not going to argue with you. I just look at Star Trek's five series (and one animated) and ten movies and see that as more successful than one movie and two series. I'm not saying either is better than the other. DSWIceman
They are already spending tons on Stargate SG1, Atlantis and Battlestar Galatica, they have 3 hours of original shows every friday night. It really wouldn't make much sense to put a ton of money into a new show. I'd also venture to say that if they did this, (many) people aren't going to want to watch 4 straight hours of TV, they'll download it and Sci-Fi will lose ad revinue. vystral
Very true. Aww forget it. I don't even get that channel. What good would it be to me?
ssarbyug50
actually, 4 hours. Friday line up of "sci fi original tv shows" starting at 7 PM Andromeda, SG-1, SGA, BSG It seems like no one cares about Andromeda, myself included. like Enterprise, Andromeda has been cancelled It was saved from cancellation and got a 5th season thanks to Sci-fi, but I guess it hasn't been doing so hot, so it has gotten the axe. They got 100 + episodes, good run. Star Trek Enterprise could take the place of Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda

justingeist
I know an obese Mennonite woman who looooves SG-1. Richard Dean Anderson gets her wetter than Jesus Christ himself. SG-1 might very well be a good sci-fi show, but I can not watch lest my mind be drawn into unwanted thoughts regarding the sublimated sexual urges of a fat, homely Pennsylvania Dutch lady. I just thought you might like to know that, ssarbyug50.

Victor1st
The entire trek franchise needs to take a 5 year break. Heck, even former actors from DS9 and some in Enterprise itself is saying so. Wait till the end of enterprise, sack berman, sack braga, get coto and DC fontana in to run the thing. Then 5 years later come out with a film...then a new series. The inherent problem with trek's success is just that, it's success. When TNG first aired what else was there to compete with it? Nothing. By the time DS9 had come to air there was Farscrap, Stargate, the revamped outer limits and a host of other smaller sci-fi shows which came and went like firefly. Trek's comeback in the movies and then TNG made people realise that sci-fi was once again a viable project, the trouble with the trek franchise right now is it needs to rest. Paramount went into overkill when they aired DS9 and Voyager at the same time, and thats when the downfall started. People (not "trekkies"...we're talking about your lounge lizard TV watcher) are simply trekked out. Continueing on with Enterprise after Blalock and a few of the other stars have a "i told you it would get cancelled" attitude would only mean that the actors would realise they were on borrowed time. TNG season 1 started like that, they thought it would end in season 3 but when season 3 kicked in the rating started to climb up. Enteprise isnt seeing that same trend, ratings are stagnant, probably due to the fact that as a network UPN sucks. Berman and Braga have also done there best to completely screw up the good work they done in the beginning when the took over from gene, those 2 have GOT to go.
