Tenebrae
THAT'S IT. Thank you. They were actually pretty cool. At least, as seen in the MU. I could still have one in a fight.

GhostShadow
what abou "Q".... is he a humanoid? Or does he jus ttake that shape...
Tenebrae
He just takes the shape, I assume... or maybe that's just how he represents himself but I think it's fair to say that he's not really humanoid.
Steveo
I wouldn't say 'takes that shape'. Makes it too similar to shapeshifting. I would say that is how he chooses to show/represent himself to humans.
GlaC
I think they used to be humanoids.... In Star Trek i think i heard several times, that the humans have great potential... Maybe Q's used to be humans... They exist out of time right?
Tablet
maybe the Q's are even more advanced atlanians (talk about throwing a spanner into the works)
Megalith
based on the number of stars like ours with planets surrounding them like ours that are as old if not older than ours theres tens of thousands of possible locations so Star Trek is barely touching the surface of its possibilities. As for intelligent life well it isnt on this planet yet we could travel to the stars.
Tenebrae
Recent articles I've read have suggested that the galaxy is an incredibly hostile place. Oh, sure, there are about a hundred billion stars in our galaxy... but only a small percentage of those stars are going to be like our sun and only a few of those are going to have Earth like planets... and the fact of the matter is, that you've got to be in a rather specific place in the galaxy to avoid the kind of gravitational effects that are going to adversely affect them. Anyway, to bottom line it - Earth is pretty lucky to have not had all life wiped out. Science suggests that even if you get out to the stars, there aren't going to be a lot of nice places to go. TetsuoShima
Well, it is sci-fi, ie.: fiction.... So would you expect to see that many humanoid races in the galaxy 'for real', I don't think so, but for sci-fi: sure, why not... Take a look at how many episodes there are concerning 'spacial anomalies'... That's also preposterous, but these are the things that make episodes without falling back on season long plots like wars and such... An episode about cruising through space, discussing how dull it is out there in between stars and not seeing anything interesting would be rather... eh wel... dull... :D At least it's better than a sci-fi-soap-opera or whatever... :) Discussing who's been with who and who's plotting against who this week and so on... Anyway, for a series that has run for a total of 28 seasons, I think they have done quite well in keeping some diversity... :D
Hilander72
maybe the Q's are even more advanced atlanians (talk about throwing a spanner into the works) Q are omnipotent, how much more advanced can any race become? I think they used to be humanoids.... In Star Trek i think i heard several times, that the humans have great potential... Maybe Q's used to be humans... They exist out of time right? In TNG Q was kicked out of the Q continuum (no powers) and he chose to be an ordinary human being. So if Q is human then why choose to be human? Timetravel paradoxes should be forbidden in sci-fi....aaargh... :(
GlaC
Because they evolved beyond humans?
Tenebrae
It's observed that the Q aren't as powerful as they'd like to think. Also - when kicked out the contiuum, I assume they made Q human so he could hang out with his mates. On omnipotence... well, infinite power... there are different degrees of infinity.
