Tenebrae
Maybe they sell/trade it? Apparently, Earth started the war with the Romulans. The events in the Romulan mini-arc may have precipitated a war but they weren't a declaration of war.
GlaC
I can't remember them in ENT... Which episodes were they in...? And where were they mentioned in DS9?
Tenebrae
They WEREN'T mentioned in DS9. They're mentioned retrospectively in Nemesis and the costumes got reused in ENT. No idea which episode though, oh wait. Sorry - a bit obvious. The season opener, the aliens are Remans but with red eyes. Clearly making them a whole new species. Tenebrae
Think what you like - I've got beer and if that doesn't make me a lot better and more right than you, then I'm taking my ball and we're not playing anymore.
MrDad
That makes little sense then really given the apparent hatred that Romulans have towards anyone none Romulan. For instance - Romulans had a hatred towards Humans - that apparently spanned decades - from 22nd century - to the 24th. It was only during DS9 and the Dominion War did they ally themselves with the Federation. On all previous occasions - the Romulans wanted to mount the Enterprise D's hull in the Romulan capital - and even in Nemesis supported Shinzon's coup. So why is it that when the Romulans first came to their star system - given the fact that they would still be angry Vulcans - that they didn't slaughter the Remans upon their arrival? Were they taken in and assisted by the Remans - and then the Romulans took control and enslaved their race over a period of centuries? It just doesn't seem to make much sense given the xenophobic and paranoid nature that we have seen in Romulan's, which is also apparent with the creation of the Tal Shiar. I for one always assumed that the planet Remus was just populated by Romulans and that the power base for the Romulan Empire was governed jointly by Romulus and Remus - which is why they are present in the talons of the Romulan symbol. (I wish they hadn't created the Remans). If the Remans were technologically primitive and henceforth easily overpowered and dominated by Romulans, they would have seen the Remans as a resource to be exploited as opposed to a threat. The Romulans saw humanity as a threat but were willing to act directly only when they felt they had the advantage. They allied with the Klingons who had technological superiority until they had closed the divide. They then broke that pact when they felt it to their advantage to do so. They have never exhibited any overt desire to destroy anyone, just to dominate them. Their actions are paranoid and xenophobic but don't seem to be motivated by actual hate. They would be gracious victors who would allow their defeated enemies to live as long as they were willing to accept Romulan superiority and serve the empire. Tenebrae
A lot of that's supposition - the level of technology the Romulans had is probably one of the more debated things in Trek. Their motivations are definitely motivated by an innate desire to conquer and dominate... they're like Dominion lite. Remans
