dabrood
Any ideas? What's the official explanation?
Tenebrae
Presumably something like that. A quick scan of Memory Alpha doesn't throw up anything but I imagine the answer may be in some technical manual. I doubt it's anything more complicated than magnets though. TFMF
In Voy they just looks like magentic handles. In First Contact they look more complicated however...
Exterus
The doors can't be stuck very hard if all it takes if for someone to attach those things and pull them apart.
Rebellion
I think it just disables the electronic lock.
dabrood
In TNG "Disaster" Gordi talks about an "hand actuator", maybe that's what they are called.
Tenebrae
There are many words in the English language but really, the only one that can describe "hand actuator" has to be "xxx". Emergency hand actuator MOD NOTE: Okies...let's watch those references there fella. I've XXXed it out. We've had enough trouble with people using that term of late! ~ c4

hayden
ahah.. just off hand dont they usually deactive the door/jefferys tube before taking out these 'hand actuators'?? like to a few fancy commands on the panel next to the door or move a couple of isolinear chips around, even if the power is out there always seems to be some kind of emergancy flow somewhere. Steveo
When, dear fellow, did 'stucked' become a word? They're a plot device that gives the characters a way to move around when the power is out, otherwise power outages would make for one hell of a boring episode.
