Swampland
Hi! I have currently gotten my hands onto all star trek episodes there is, except any pilot episodes. Anyone know what kind of, and how many pilot episodes there actually is? Are these episodes officially availible for purchase anywhere? Since there's no record of any such episodes on startrek.com (atleast not something i can find), im wondering if these are allowed to download? if anyone have any personal or specific questions about my star trek collection not wanted to be posted here, you can allways use my e-mail address; Joakimmyrland@hotmail.com Thanks ;)
TetsuoShima
If there is no record of an episode on 'www.startrek.com', then there is no such official episode. Never heard of seperate pilot episodes for Star Trek myself anyway... Unless you mean the very first episode ever for TOS, which is sometimes referred to as episode 0. But I think that one is listed...
Symok
The first episode of a series is the pilot episode. So, Encouter at Farpoint, Emissary, Caretaker and Broken Bow were/are the pilots of TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT respectively.
Arktis
Right, and I think with TOS it was "The Man Trap". But don't take that to the bank.
Swampland
Well..ok then. So no other episodes except thoose in startrek.com The Cage is the pilot to TOS. which was edited later to fit the series final design (intro etc). I also heard that the 2nd pilot was Where no man has gone before. which was also edited, and finaly became the 3rd episode in the first TOS season. The only series i actualy know something about the pilots:p wasnt sure about the other ones tho. But thanks :) i now know i havent missed anything....(i hope:P)
MrDad
The original pilot was 'The Cage' but the network didn't like it. Portions were later reworked into 'The Menagerie'. The official (televised) pilot was 'Where No Man Has Gone Before'.

TFMF
There was another series that was in production but i don't know if they made a pilot though - it was called Second Phase i think - had all the TOS characters - basically it was supposed to revive TOS but it didn't make it off the ground - it may have been because they made a movie instead
Tenebrae
Wasn't the pilot for Second Phase made into a TOS episode, Assignment Earth? And then, instead of making the series, they opted for the film. There's stuff about it on Wiki... let me look... Looks like I was right.

There's stuff about it on Wiki... let me look... Looks like I was right. Assignment: Earth was to be a pilot for a new series starring Robert Lansing and Terri Garr as Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln. Phase II was to be a continuation of the original series. They made 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture' instead. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_Phase_II

TetsuoShima
I think if you count in sleeping and eating and washing and some other minor stuff, it should be possible to watch all Trek in 2 months then... If you don't mind ending up in mental institution afterwards. :p
Vyperion
The original pilot was 'The Cage' but the network didn't like it. Portions were later reworked into 'The Menagerie'. The official (televised) pilot was 'Where No Man Has Gone Before'.The main reason they didn't like it was because it had a woman as second-in-command and they felt that they weren't quite ready to show that on Network TV. In Where No Man Has Gone Before you can see that they re-used the uniforms from the pilot and there is a notable absense of Dr McCoy. I think if you count in sleeping and eating and washing and some other minor stuff' date=' it should be possible to watch all Trek in 2 months then... If you don't mind ending up in mental institution afterwards. :p[/quote']That is so easy to imagine - curled up in a corner, bound in a straight-jacket mumbling "He's dead, Jim; He's dead, Jim; He's dead, Jim" over and over. Why is that so easy to imagine? :D
