DS9 Ending

POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!! RAH!!!!

Here begins the utter resentment towards a completely insulting and ridiculously cheesy final deep space nine sequence.

When I saw the flashback ending to deep space nine, in all of it's cornyness, you can bet I was pissed off. Here was a terribly STUPID (and I do mean stupid!) finale to an otherwise somewhat halfway decent series. I mean, to begin with I didn't have too much respect for DS9 and all it's glorious bastardization of the optimistic ideals for the future of humanity, but this final sweep of idiocy just topped it all off with one last insult to the viewer. What am I talking about? I am refering to the last sequence of flashbacks for the "memorable moments" of the series, complete with corny music, starting when Worf is leaving the station. Am I the only one who felt the least bit cheated and/or insulted by this? Not only was it in poor taste, but it was just... ugh. It was BAD.

Am I the only one who feels this way? I know there are many of you who disagree on the point that deep space nine was a bastardization; in fact many of you applaud the greater feeling of realism to science fiction that it brought. But can't we all come together as one to say that this last flashback sequence just sucked?

Sincerely miffed by bad directing at the absolute wrong time,

i mean i watched it over 2 years... & saw some clips & said to my self .. oooo look how young they looked way back then... where as if i'd watched it over a week... i would say ... big deal... i can still remember the ep.....

final words good if you watched it over some period of time... bad if didn't.... :p

Some ppl (like myself) have never seen all of DS9 (I'm just watching it now for the first time). Maybe you should include the warning - POSSIBLE SPOILERS in this thread .

Just a thought...

Oh, come on c4evap - ending of DS9, implies spoilers... and it's not like spoilers for everything aren't slung around all the time anyway... DARTH VADER IS LUKE'S FATHER. Oops. Spoilers happen ;)

Anyway, I'd agree with you Arktis... I know some people go gooey at the DS9 ending but yeah, I think the clipshow approach was a pretty poor way to end the show and it seemed like a bit of an artificial way to wrap it all up.

Considering the topic says "DS9 Ending", I didn't think a spoiler warning would be needed. But consider it done. :)

I really think you should rectify that situation asap

Yes, you ought to fix that. As many gripes as I have with DS9 (and I have a TON! Oh boy did it make me mad on sooooo many levels...) I still enjoyed it.

Anyways, I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt a little cheated. And I also noticed how they avoided Jadzia Dax. Why on earth would they do that? I really don't get it.

yeah i see what you mean - the ending sequence with the flashbacks was corny - i mean it was nice to see some of the meories of DS9 but not in the way they did it.

I will just say - i liked the very last scene where we zoomed out from the station promenade - amazing :)

Because they would have had to pay her a load of money!

well they could have at least splashed out a bit - it was a special sequence ;)

Actually, I'm fairly sure they only used clips from season 7. The whole ending kind of smacks of the sort of writing you'd expect from a student that got drunk and then remember they have to finish an essay that day and so the end is just basically just a rehash.

To be honest, while the build up to the end of DS was great, it was stupid that they ended it in a double episode because that really went against everything that had happened before.

no - they did use clips from other seasons as well - they used a scene from the episode where Quark and Ode are stranded on that planet

Really? I got the impression that 90% of it was season 7 stuff.

Yeah most of it was - though season 7 had a lot of the best DS9 - they did use other scenes from other seasons but yeah - i think it was mainly because of the Jadzia thing

I don't think they would have had to pay her anything. Wouldn't all her previous work in DS9 be the exclusive property of Paramount to basicly do with as they please?

That's what i would have thought - i mean if they could have included Worf scenes with Ezri then i'm sure they could have put in some with like their wedding

There were many things in DS9 I didn't like, but there were also many things I did like.

As for the last ep, well everything was allready worked out, so they tried a lame ending, didn't work out very wel, but it could have been a lot worse.

The best ending ever is still TNG, that episode so totally rules!

Oh, and Arktis, you have the best avatar I've seen in a while. Niiice! :D
