Fourevver
Yeah, hardly seen the Doctor in this episode!
Tenebrae
All the marks of RTD on it... It was ok though, the perspective was interesting... clearly contributing to the RTD theme of the Doctor and Monsters. It was ok... but I don't know, in the context - far fetched. Oh and Scooby Doo chase scene? Stupid.
GorunNova
Heh... at first, I thought this was going to be the closest thing Doctor Who has had to a recap episode. I'd have to agree with Fenriswolf... it was odd. Not terrible, but I have to agree the 'Scooby Doo chase scene' was totally unnecessary. Good thing Elton upset Rose's mother, though, or he'd be dead. maybrick
Stupid? That was probably the intention. That said, it was probably the worst scripted show with the worst CGI effects in the first two seasons, but I still find the humor leaps and bounds beyond the comedy episodes that are occasionally produced for the Stargate SG-1 series. drsamiam
As for this episode. I'm a huge fan of Doctor Who, but this week shows what happens when you spend your budget on episodes 9 and the season's final conclusion. i.e., it's time to use available actors and limit the need to use the mill. Let this be a reminder to all the fans what regular TV is like before blowing the doors off the final episodes. Hey, next time they want to do an episode like this one, please let me know because I can make my home video camera available for shoting! With a little paractice and a reveiw of the Blair Witch movie, plus the guys with rubber suits, we should be ready. Oh, and perhaps I should consult the Sylvestory McCoy era for a few jokes and stunts to round out the script. Hope for more on the next episode :(
drsamiam
For those who missed this... In addition to this week's DW Confidential episode, there is also an interview online in which David Tennant and Billie Piper explain what the story teller was thinking when putting together this episode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Pb1VRqrsv8

Oh and Scooby Doo chase scene? Stupid. I disliked the Scooby Doo chase scene intensely, apart from that it was an ok episode, as I said weird/odd. I suppose they wanted something much lighter after the intensity of the Impossible Planet and Satan Pit, it was a monster designed by a kid and definitely an episode aimed more for kids than the older audience. Didn't hate it, would watch it again, but would rather watch Girl in the Fireplace.
TFMF
The episode was ok i suppose - Peter Kay was funny but the chase scene was just bad I think the episode was good up untill we saw the alien in his true form - then it just got weird
Antilles
It was good but I felt like it was a tie-in to Dr Who rather than an episode of Dr Who, almost a fan based "What would it be like to meet the Doctor!" scenario. I dont think they should do this too often (if ever again). Peter Kay was ok, not what I expected but just okay! Bottom of my list I think, perhaps even the bottom of the list from even the early McCoy years and thats saying something. Still at least Bertie Bassett didnt make an appearance. Now, lets get back to Dr Who next week!
Vyperion
This reminds me of a bad combination of two other shows alternative episodes: B5's one about the two utilities guys going round the station talking about themain cast and how they percieve them and Farscape's MTV-recap when Dargo and Crichton are kicked off the ship and the episode is told back to us from John's perspective. I'm not quite sure what this episode was trying to be - comedy or drama. It started funny but then nose-dived into serious. I think Peter Kay was alright but you could've put any guy in his place and it wouldn't have made a difference (imagine Ricky Gervais instead of Peter Kay and you'll see what I mean. It's almost like he was supposed to save the bad storyline by being the big special guest star. And that last scene was just disturbing - "We even have a love-life", she's a face in a slab of concrete and I didn't need that mental image, thank you very much. I'd rather have had something nice like a touching kiss than a crude innuendo. Next week's ep - Bernard Black could've certainly used her skills a few years ago
Antilles
Bloody hell if it was Ricky Gervais Id never even have watched it, I dunno what it is but...I HATE THAT GUY!
Tablet
ok i wasn't going to comment on this episode since i didn't know what i thought about it but i must. First off the fly on the wall style of scripting was cool it was nice to see what other people who have been touched by the doctor are like. Secondly, calling the scooby doo chase 'stupid' is is just plain ignorant to the fact that it was Elton telling the story, oh and dont forget the wrong coloured buckets of water im suprised no one commented on that. Just think though after this season we probably wont see Jackie again so it was nice to see her again too. ....oh and did peter Kay remind any one of Fat B#####d from Austin Powers or is it just me? Overall i thought that this episode would not have appealed to kids because of the was it was written and filmed which i have been praying RTD would do. ;)
Tenebrae
Yes, his final form did remind me of an illegtimate and overweight Scotsman. Pray tell, what are we missing about the scooby doo chase scene? I don't CARE who is telling the story. Why not throw in some Benny Hill fast running and sexy parties :| Just be aware that would tip me over the edge into psychopathic insanity. Antilles
Dont forget the wrong coloured buckets? Was there some significance to that scene? I must be missing something!
Megalith
I loved it, only just watched it was cuz out yesterday, i rate it as one of the best in this series. The ending did let it down tho, i loved the almost dream like interpretation of eltons fantasy life. I was thinking of giving this a 9.5 till it got to the end. In the end i will give it an 8.5 overall which ranks it as one of the best 3 of this series and definately better than the cybermen. I have to agree with Tablet on this one in that the episode wasnt a kids one. I can imagine tho kids being scared by it. Next weeks is definately one to spook the kids with tho imo. EDIT:- I have to say the Bertie Bassett episode was one i liked lol just goes to show how diverse taste can be huh
TFMF
Yeah - i thought the scenes where we got to see Elton' group before they met Victor Kenedy were great - how they all became friends and then it was sad when they got picked off one by one... Mav
That was, a strange episode. It was both brilliantly written and quite, off the mark for a typical Who episode (judging based on s27 and s28 so far). The poor guy loses everything and it's all revolved around the Doc. Collateral Damage, so to speak. You'd think in the end, after not having saved his mother, after having decided to not go through the whole "step 5" *ahem* with Jackie, the poor guy would get the woman he loves back completely. Not just a stone slab with a face. And while I did chuckle at the obvious oral sex implications, it was also a cheesey remark. I kind of see how it's easy to identify with the guy. Regular joe working through life, no long term goals or ambitions. And you learn about something secret and obscure and begin an interest in it. Then you learn others share that and become quick friends with them and even fall in love with one. Very well written but I gotta say, the writters really like taking a dump on the characters who aren't the Doctor or Rose. Jack gets stuck on the station (which we know he'll be in Torchwood), Mickey gets left behind, this poor guy almost gets killed while losing all his friends and is left with just face-stone slab of the girl he loves... It was almost surreal. Don't get me wrong, I like a dark motif story like anyone else, I mean damn I was a Farscape/B5/Whedon fan, the good guys always take it the hardest. Just never thought you'd get that vivid punch to the gut implications onto others. When you think about it, how many other thousands of people has the Doctor set on a similar course then events similar to this? Not the whole "lets find the Doctor" thing but the whole land in a certain time to stop a certain alien/monster, which then later has ramifications on the people related/involved. Much better than the whole Satan-on-an-Asteroid story.

That's one of the only reasons I can legitimise that whole chase scene, Elton was the storyteller...so it was from his point of view.
