I always wanted a fiber optic kit one, but heard they were ridiculous to assemble, all those damn fiber strands and drilling holes. Plus they never are manufactured to perfection, then you have to paint.

Plus they're way over-priced most of the time.

Put the Bandai one together for my nephew. Fairly easy. Took most of an afternoon. The paint job is fantastic. The fiber optics were easy and it looks pretty nice. Am putting together the Polar Lights one now and it will take quite a while to finish. If nothing else, the aztec shading will take a bit.

Anyone have any comments about the Star Trek model kits out there? I just put together the NX-01 Bandai kit and have started the Polar lights NX-01 kit. Both look great.

Try finding the Bandai version of Voyager. You'll empty your bank account to purchase it! They usually go on Ebay (mint) for around $150 US! I was trying to get one but decided on the Playmates Voyager ship instead (sound effects and all that). Got it for around $35 US (used, but in good shape).

Slighty OT: Just today finally located the models for the Lost In Space robot (B9) and the Forbidden Planet robot (Robby). The latter was particularly hard to locate. They are selling on Ebay (when you can find them) for around $50 US. I must have spent 4 or 5 hours web surfing until I finally located one for $19.95 US. :D

I saw that one and the NCC-1701-A one they had over at HLJ while looking for Gundam models and it looks nice.

I may consider picking up the next time I'm buying models.

Nice, but my kit is a bit different (made by another company). I'm sure some of his tips will come in handy however. Thanks!
