Guest Guest
One of the main reason for why Enterprise has failed is because of one thing. it isn't retro enough. I know times have changed from the 1960's but when looking at the bridge of the original enterprise and the NX-01 it feels to close to our time. Flat panel moniters for one. In 2154 they haven't invented something new! I know it is just a tv show but it matters.
vyper
Erm, are we forgetting the technological setbacks that would have resulted from devastation of WW3 and the Eugenics wars? And remember, the Vulcans aren't exactly enthusiastic about sharing technology.

This is the setback that is found in all shows, so I don't see why it should be a factor to Enterprise's demise. We are always held back by our times. This is something very trivial, and therfore I don't agree with your point.
Relentless
A new techknowledgy in Enterprise during an episode that starfleet develops would be nice and interesting.
ssarbyug50
That is one major reason, yes. Looks more futuristic, more technological than TNG even and DS9 and VOY to some extent. Why? because this show is made in the 21st century and all others were made in the 20th century. Advances in special effects and everything. This does not look like a classic ship - this Enterprise could easily be in the TNG-DS9-VOY time period. EASILY. Looks so futuristic. No way this ship came before Kirk's Enterprise. DS9 did that time period right in "Trials and Tribble-ations" and TNG had several TOS-era ships that actually looked it (like the Stargazer) - with all the authentic sounds, etc. Seems like Enterprise technology is much much better than TOS. And how can we get TOS uniforms from Enterprise? You just can't. Not to mention that a zillion times in other star trek shows they mention Kirk's Enterprise as being the first Enterprise. So uh... is this show just a holo-simulation? ;)
vyper
The first Enterprise could mean the first Enterprise NCC. Remember the NX-01 is literally a prototype.
bbbb
I just saw on startrek.com that the series finale will indeed involve the holodeck and the Ent-D of all things. I'm so surprised they would do it on that ten year old ship that we saw for seven years and not the Titan or the Ent-E. We will probably notice the 11 year difference in age for both Riker and Troi. Showing these older actors doing what they did 11 years ago is a bad end for a series like Enterprise.

From what I've gleaned about the final episode, I want to go POSTAL - but I guess I'll take a deep breath, concentrate on my environment, count backwards from a British Billion and avoid the bloodshed. :o

They're either the stupidest guys I've ever met, or this is being done deliberately to piss off the fans.

str82u
Personally, I think the NX-01 is perfect, Yeah it looks more advanced than NCC-1701, but when I was a kid and the original series had just hit reruns, you had to imagine that the ship was cooler than it was. Would any of you stand for a show that had as bland a look as the original? Heck No! At teh same time, Kirk's ship was the hottest thing around and is still cool. The new/older /original Enterprise is built like a tank: Thick bulkheads, polorized hull plating, a freakin' GRAPPLER???, not to mention what happened to that poor bastard in "Strange New World". Didn't see those kinda breakdowns did ya? Innovations? How about when they introduced the phase pistol in (Episode 1x03[?]) Phase cannons... or the Photonic Torpedo? Yeah, they were way behind tecnologically, if Gene Roddenberry had Skywalker Ranch in '67, where would webe now? Or what if Lucas had done Star Wars in'67. My point is dull, I use my imagination watching Enterprise the same as I did Star Trek TOS, I also have a condition (no joke) that allows me to watch these shows repeatedly like they were campfire stories, over and over.... It's painfully obvious that they don't care about the show anymore, just the money they can get out of it. I didn't like DS9 at first, I found it hard to get into. But I absolutely LOVED the last few seasons, and I have also since watched most (if not all) of the earlier episodes as well, and I thouroughly enjoy them. (DS9 is also the only series I have fully downloaded) As I said in the thread about the next movie, if they could get some of those writers on a new series they might have a chance at reclaiming what Star Trek is supposed to be. Stranger
How about when they introduced the phase pistol in (Episode 1x03[?]) Phase cannons... or the Photonic Torpedo? None of those technologies existed in the 2150s according to the timeline established by the original series and The Next Generation. The Romulan War, which took place over a hundred years before TOS, was fought with nuclear weapons. Introducing phasers in Enterprise is not innovation, it's rewriting Trek lore. The original series episode Balance of Terror also mentioned that humans and romulans never had any kind of visual contact until Captain Kirk and his crew met the romulan commander. Just so everyone knows what's in store for us if that rumored movie about the Romulan War is ever made.
vystral
I agree, but these things happen when you make a prequel. I think they've done pretty well, considering.
coolcat13
much like Star wars , Enterprise suffers because prequels are a dreadful Idea. you should always push forward on a series and not play catch up . otherwise you are always rewriting cannon and there are never any surprises unles you are altering the future as seen here and also in Starwars we all know that Skywalker is going rogue and becoming Darthvader there and we all know that Kirk is going on a 5 year mission to boldly go where no man has gone before no surprises
vew
i Dont care what any one says enterprise should not of been canceled for any reason. and the fact it has been is aload of BS. my sisters watch charmed and thats in its 7th season so your telling me theres a bigger fan base or something thats keeping it alive while star trek gets cancelled. i also watch stargate and that was nearly canceled at session 4 look at it now its in its 9th session what is wrong with the People at Paramount
damacles
Yeah if enough fans speak out, companies will listen. From what I have been reading about the Save Enterprise campaign is that Paramount is now fully aware that not only are ST fans dedicated they have built up a fund of over 3 million to PAY (or help pay) for another season! Fans can make companies stop and listen but cold hard cash can make them do it even faster. The cast are still under contract, the set's are still up, so this at least means Paramount is listening very hard now. Will this give us another season, dunno but until the cast are released from their contracts and the set's are broken down, we gotta keep the faith! As to Charmed, that show gives me a migraine just trying to keep track of the plots. How this shows has survived for 7 seasons is another Hollywood rule: SEX SELLS! Flash the skin and people will tune in! B)
Soulreaper
Yep to *.* Funny thing though on Starwars forums is that some bright people actually keep asking "why does Anakin have to become evil???" Hahahahaha ;D "'nough said" What I hate about Charmed is that it sucks without "Cole" (Julian McMahon) and the characters are so stupid. "Hey we're all perfect and good and to hell with everyone else"....as they say in the UK about 14-year-old-girls-behaviour; Bunny Boilers!!! damacles
Yep, I liked Cole. Evil in Armani! Ever notice good guys/gals dress down and most are middle class but evil ones, Gucci, Armani and filthy rich all the way! I mean it's not a hard decision to make when you see what both sides are wearing. Good Guy: 'Come follow the Light Side protect the innocent!' Bad Guy: 'No, join the Dark Side and know true power!' Me to Good Guy: 'So where do your clothes come from and how much do you make?' Good Guy: 'Sears and Old Navy, I work in a bookshop, why?' Me to Bad Guy: 'And yours?' Bad Guy: 'Armani custom made with Egyptian silk, I also run a multinational corporation and grossed profits of 12 billion last year!' Me: 'Hmm tough choice....Old Navy or Armani...no money or stinkin rich...let me think.' (pulls out phaser and shoots Good Guy) 'Ok, let's go!'
