I love earl grey!!

it's partially because of picard

but

I've known picard for my whole life

I was born in 1985 and you know when TNG first aired...

and I've watched my first episodes when I was in kindergarten ;)

I didn't drink tea then... and when I had a chance I knew only one kind of it for which I asked my parents to buy ;)

I like Earl Grey but that has nothing to do with Picard... in fact (contoversial comment coming) I hate Picard. He must be one of the worst captains I've ever seen in Sci-Fi. But that's beside the point/ Earl Grey is decent but my favorite would have to be Prince of Wales or peppermint.

That's what I say too. I can't stand liptons or any tea that is cold. I don't even think it IS tea' date=' it's soda with USA chemicals in it. Americans don't know nothin about tea.[/quote']

Some of us do. Unfortunately, there is a serious lack of places to get good tea in the US.

Someone mentioned Tetley's. That's the kind of tea we use a Red Lobster, but they use it for Iced Tea. I don't particularly like it, I prefer nice hot tea :D

Earl Grey is OK. I like Green Tea more though.

i love tea. and am an american.

earl grey is good.

very unfair to say that americans don't know tea. british people didn't invent it either :P.

---------------------

I went on vacation to London about 4 years ago - tried to get the real "english tea time experience"

Could NOT find it. Literally a Starbucks on every corner.

Best tea time experience in England was seriously on British Airlines - was also good at the British Musuem.

Seemed to me like the British switched to coffee just like Americans :(

-----------------------

Uh what is wrong with ice tea?

I don't even think it IS tea, it's soda with USA chemicals in it. Americans don't know nothin about tea.

What the hell? How it is it not tea? No added chemicals, don't be ignorant now.

It is just tea served cold instead of hot - it is VERY refreshing and tastes very good.

I prefer ice tea unsweetened and very strong (sugar and lemon is acceptable for ice tea though) - just like how I like my hot tea VERY STRONG and unsweetened.

Who needs milk or sugar? That just takes away the taste, imo.

I didn't say British people invented it. I said CHINESE did (more like discovered, not invented), and they have the BEST tea in the world. They drink it every day for every occasion.

I stick to the claim that Americans don't know anything about tea because they don't. Any tea you buy in the US stores is tainted unless it was directly imported. Liptons is NOT pure tea. It's a soft drink with sugar.

LIPTON Earl Gray Ingredients:

MADE FROM FINE IMPORTED BLACK TEA LEAVES, NATURAL BERGAMOT FLAVOR WITH OTHER NATURAL FLAVORS (CONTAINS SOY LECITHIN).

Other Natural flavors?? MSG. There should be nothing in it but pure tea leaves. It's the same throughout their line of products. Artificial "natural" flavors and colored dyes.

LIPTON Green Tea with Natural Mandarin & Mango Flavors Ingredients:

Instant green tea, maltodextrin, citric acid (provides tartness), sucralose (Spenda brand), natural flavors (contain soy lecithin), acesulfame potassium (sweetener), silicon dioxide (prevents caking), yellow 6."

Finding good tea is as easy as looking through the online phone book for a Chinese store.

Just for your info guys and gals.

All tea (tea leafs), tastes the same - It only differs in taste from how it is processed and stuff added for aroma and shelf life, etc.

Saying that. I wonder where and what original Tea tastes like - like straight off the tree (tea leaf), and simmered in hot water.

Hey! Where can you buy unprocessed tea leaves - like off the tree?

Humm, tea for thought.

Alan.

Probably only in China, since that's where tea comes from, and where the British buy it. You can also check your local area for a Chinese herbalist shop or food shop to get some tea leaf.

I believe Oolong tea is what you're looking for.

PS:

Not all Americans are stupid about Tea. We definately don't all like Liptons. And with the super-walmarts and super-targets putting everyone out of business, it's getting harder and harder to find a real butcher, a real fish shop, a real bakerys, real spices and real tea. It's very very annoying

...PG Tip' date=' Tetleys or Yorkshire tea rules...trust me I am english and we know our tea's hehe[/quote']

hmm they are just blends of other teas. i think tetley is a blend of assam, celyon and some african tea. try drinking the actual teas like assam, celyon, Darjeeling, Lapsang Souchong and many more.

Twinings is the company that does them in most supermarkets, more expensive that your pg and tetleys, but joe public wouldn't know quality if it slaped them in the face. If you want better quality there are other companies out there. green tea from china is quite nice too.

Wahaha - well, I agree with you on pretty much everything.

I worked (and lived) with Chineese people for a long time so I picked up a thing or two from them :D

However, IceTea (unpure or not) can still be quite nice, although REAL Tea is the best.

As for the further deconstruction of REAL shops (butchers, bakeries, etc.) I agree as well - it's a disaster - the STUPIDEST thing that can be done is to take away local production by several reasons - and those reasons should be pretty obvious.

I've adressed issues like that on various "better world" topics around here.
