POSSIBLE SPOILERS!

I wanted to get some early feedback on fans' hopes for tonights episode, what do you expect etc. After the first 2 episodes being popular (generally) can the BBC and RTD keep up the good work even tho Quitterspher Eccleston is leaving.

I myself am thoroughly going to enjoy tonights episode, I love that Victorian London (Cardiff lol) period, old, dark, foggy streets, Jack the Ripper around the corner, bobbies (policemen) whistles blowing in the dark to alert for danger, aaagh, love it. And to top it all, some sort of ghostly goings on with a cadaver.

Plus, the preview pics of Rose in the bustier WOW, bring it on girl! And are we gonna hear more of this 'Last Timelord' storyline?

The audience figures expectedly dropped to the 7 million figure last week, still beating the rival stations favourite 'Ant n Dec' by a million or so, so that was good news after premiere show got 10.6 million. Lets hope we can stay around the 7-10 mark. Last Saturday apparently had good weather so they reckoned that made up for the loss, its freezing today in UK so maybe theyll all stay in and watch and we can whoop 'Ant n Dec' again. hehe

Report back tonight with feedback *gets excited again*

PS What were the viewing figure like in Canada sine launch there this week?

even tho Quitterspher Eccleston is leaving.

Have you not heard that the BBC misquoted him? Yes he is leaving, but it was Russell T Davies idea and not his. He was only hired for one season so that they could have a regeneration at the end of episode 13.

I'm also getting tired of people bad mouthing him for leaving a job. Did I get on the internet and write horrible things about you when you quit McDonald's? "I can't believe he's leaving McDonald's! He's a quitter. Guess he just doesn't care about burgers like the rest of us."

I'm good friends with Richard Franklin (Dr. Who's Capt Mike Yates) and he called me very upset about Eccleston leaving. He feels the actors have a responsibility to the show and the fans. I disagree. I have never felt any responsibility to any job after I've left it. If he and the other actors do, that's thier choice.

I'll get off my soap box now.

Well since at the time of this writing the 3rd episode hadnt actually aired, i figured it was safe to come in a poke around a bit. I think tonights episode, other than episode 6 which will feature the return of the daleks, will probably have the highest ratings of all. I cant wait to watch tonights episode because, like you RS, I am a huge fan of victorian era London. Waiting with bated breath. . .

Thats funny you should mention Daleks, coz months ago at Outpost Gallifrey they had the original cast listings for early episodes and they had a Dalek & Controller listed for episode 3, either it was a typo or were in for a treat, surely they wont let us wait another 3 weeks to see Daleks! hehe

OK DEFINITE SPOILER TIME NOW!

Clucking Bell, what a story, the main story was good but immaterial to the underlying 'Time War' arc which seems to be slowly weaving its way into each episode.

And the blue elementals appearing in tonights show look like theyll be appearing in next weeks show, I dunno, I did spot someone 'unzip' their forehead and let out a blue light. I may be wrong but did the Doctor change history back in 1969?

And it was Cardiff not London, shame but still Victorian.

This whole season seems to be gearing up to this time war story, Im beginning to think the Nestenes war which was mentioned in Rose is the very same war mentioned last week and tonight. Oh no, another week to go, time to hold the breath again! LOL

Rose was funny after she was chloroformed, accusing the guy of a quick fondle...hehe who wouldnt!

Thoroughly enjoyable.

I thought the doctor looked a bit guilty/decidedly shifty when time wars was mentioned (damn, Ecclestone is good)

BTW that means as an actor, before we get any misconceptions, lol, this is not the gay/straight thread

Thats ok, if you fancied him youd have spelt his name correctly LOL

But I know what ya mean, the shifty eyes when Rose looked at him when the word Time War came up. Intriguing. I really hoped a Dalek would have showed up, I was thinking that time period and Evil Of The Daleks/Troughton story, something might have got left behind or buried beneath London, but seeing as its bloomin Cardiff again. Sorry Welsh people, but theyre playing the Cardiff bit a lot, I know its filmed there for legal reasons but hey, 'Who' is London and London is very 'Who'.

Besides, both the Doc & Rose both showed their "Oh well, its Cardiff" side tonight, quite funny, that must have been RTD's little bit of self-humour. we Celts are good at doing that!

Also, after last weeks ideas about him not being the Doctor coz of his seemingly adept control of the TARDIS, tonights show puts all doubt out the window, he most certainly can NOT control it, 1860 Naples becomes 1869 Cardiff hehe, kinda missed a bit!

Yes you may be onto something, Im sure the Time Lords, if they did indeed get wiped out, took somebody or something(s) with them. Theres been enough Rogues from that race over time, wouldnt be surprised if they were even behind it all.

Viewing Figures

Episode three of the TV series, The Unquiet Dead was the top rated British television program on Saturday, April 9, according to preliminary overnight ratings figures from ViewingFigures. Doctor Who was viewed by an average 8,339,880 viewers, a 36% audience share, with a peak of 8,914,240 viewers. By comparison, its competition on ITV, "Ant + Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway," had only a 32% audience share with approximately 7,136,000 viewers. "Doctor Who" therefore won its timeslot for the third week in a row, increasing its viewership over the previous week, and won the night... even beating two of the UK's biggest events of the year so far, the royal wedding and "The Grand National." The BBC3 companion documentary series Doctor Who Confidential episode three also achieved positive notes, with 542,470 average viewers (peaking at 601,740), rating a 4 with a viewing share of 3.62% in the 7:30-8:30pm time slot.

It is interesting to note how the final viewing figures of "Rose," the first episode, skewed upwards from these, so these results could, in fact, be higher when all data is in. Meanwhile, Doctor Who continues to prove its worthiness as a Saturday night staple, once again trouncing the competition and being the BBC's Saturday evening ratings jewel.

Royal Wedding AND The Grand National (Big annual Horse race for our US fans) Fecking ell, go Doctor.

Also did anyone notice at the end when the Doctor said to Rose, "Lets give him (Dickens) one last surprise" (or words to that effect) and pulled the switch for the dematerialisation, yet the console (to right of camera) did not go up and down. haha, dont ya just love bloopers.

Did anyone cap the BBC Four 'Mystery Of Charles Dickens' at 8.15pm? It was supposed to be specially for Simon Callow and would have been interesting to see if there was a nice link between the 2 shows, he was pretty good as Dickens, I like Callow.

I dont think they should have called the DVD boxset 'First Series' thats only gonna confuse 'newvians' when they find out the first series was 42 years ago. Well done BBC goofballs!

I for one will be buying the Season 27 boxset.

I'd just like to state for the record....

DOCTOR WHO IS BACK.

I realize you all know this, but that's the thought that hit me again and again watching this episode. Rose was - well, it was a pilot, with all the problems that go along with a pilot. The end of the world was much better, and showed great promise. But with this episode, I can safely say that I feel 100% that Doctor Who is back. I can hardly wait until next week!

I haven't been this excited about Doctor Who since... Well, since the 80's. Fantastic.

Ok, that's it. I just had to get that all out.

I just watched Ep 3 again today on my own and paid a bit more attention. When Gwyneth is having her 'psychic' chat with Rose she mentions 'The Big Bad Wolf' and in next weeks episode the TARDIS has BAD WOLF graffiti on it, hmmm more intrigue. Who is the big bad wolf, did Gwyneth see something about the Doctor we dont know? Shes dead now so well never know. Damn RTD and his cryptic plot lines. lol
