GeneralLee
I was just sitting here late on a Saturday night, watching Saturday Night Live, on the television. I just saw a commercial, that "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, The Movie" will be released in US theaters, on April 29th, not far away. I had never heard of this being in production before now, and I am pleasently surprised to hear about this. I may just have to shell out a few bucks and see this one in the theaters. ank329
the site is over the bandwitdh, can you post a summary of what you read?
nuages
Umm in a brief summary, MJ Simpson who wrote Douglas Adams biography Hitchiker says its BAD. And basically describes how it not only bastardizes the HHGTG universe but also is just a plain bad movie in itself. She goes on in details for like 4 pages. The site will probably be back up tommorw, must have been slashdotted. Either way it makes me scared to see the movie now :P although i think deep down i think its possible maybe she is overreacting or just watching it the wrong way. Hopefully its really a great movie, and it was a practical joke or she is crazy. Which sadly I don't think she is crazy.
GeneralLee
I was able to access that link, read a page or so, from what I read, I'll pass. I may wait till I can download it from a secure source, or cheaply rent the DVD now.
coolcat13
That is a shame . i watched / thoroughly enjoyed the series when it was on PBS (I was a teen back then) I was really looking forward to this movie . guess I will wait and rent it as well :(
NiteShdw
If anyone has the PBS series on DVD or something, that would be great! I as a little kid but I remember a few scenes, I'd lve to watch it again. I also heard really bad things about the movie (probably he same website). The problem is the book is LONG, and they tried to cram it into 2 hours. It would have worked better as a mini-series.
GeneralLee
If anyone has the PBS series on DVD or something' date=' that would be great! I as a little kid but I remember a few scenes, I'd lve to watch it again.[/quote'] I'm wracking my brain here trying to remember for sure, but I think the PBS version, was a rebroadcast of shows from the BBC, and it may have aired about 1981 or 1982 or so. But, I'm not sure, I recall the Dr. Who I watched here in the states years ago was for sure (from the BBC). Edit: I just thought of something... I just did a check at Netflix, and it seems there is a DVD from 1981, but it's hard to tell if it is the same thing or not. From what I can see, it looks like there were 6 episodes. If this rings a bell, I'd be glad to rent that DVD, can add it to my queue at the top, and make it available here in about a week to 10 days or so. Lemme know what the preferered file size format for each eps would be, if that is the case. Edit: I just added it too my queue, regardeless, now I'm interested in it myself. Surprisingly, no Enterprise on DVD =([/quote'] LOL! Then I'll let you handle it then, unless you have better things to rip and encode ;) (and I know you do!) I wasn't sure if you had a Netflix account or not, but I had a feeling you did ;) By gawd that's the easiest way to go I do say.... Yea, the new movie shows, but it is still pending release of course.

I went to the announce url, and got the torrent from there. Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll still get the DVD anyhow tho, and rip it and back it up for my own archives and purposes tho.
