coolcat13
This is a poll to see what you think of the plot and acting of the new Dr to this point .I have found that even though the stories are 45 minutes that the underlying plot has captured my undivided attention and as to this point the show has been great.I havent yet seen that one episode that pushes it over the top for me like Genesis of the Daleks but it has a build up that could exceed most prior Dr Who. The acting has been good but not yet am I comfortable with saying it has been Tom Baker like . so i have voted Great not awesome but if the time war plot line lives up to my expectations i will revise that edit actually i voted awesome I decided that if the plot were disapointing i would revise downwards instead
oiloncanvas
look man, the stories are cool, the acting is fitting to the series, but not the episode layout, save the world in a one part episode, bully. i wish that it would expand to 4 or 6 part stories like it used to, thats what got me hooked as a kid. make me drool for next week. magpie1509
Your all missing the point. Just be thankful we aint a UPN show i.e Startrek Enterprise. Doctor Who is back fair enough in a new format and style, but I for one being a fan of 30+ years am proud of the evolvement. Doctor Who is back Long Live the Doctor
Shadowrunner
I wish that it would expand to 4 or 6 part stories like it used to' date=' thats what got me hooked as a kid.[/quote'] I agree. Loving the new show but some of the stories could have been better served by extending them over a few episodes. SR
nuages
Think of the new episodes as 2 parters each part back to back :P
coolcat13
there is a midseason two parter and the end of the season carries over to next season is supposed to be a 4 parter . the two parte is like a 4 parter in the past cause the eps are 45 minutes and used to be about 23 minutes and the conclusion of this season and start of the next will be the equivelant of an 8 parter although i am not clear if the will be considered the same show or two continuing shows . so hold tight they will be getting multi-episode shows going
Antilles
Just be thankful its not the old days with stories lasting 10 or 12 weeks a la Dalek Master Plan & War Games, mega-stories by todays comparison. Loving the new show and trying not to compare it to the classic too much as that what tends to bring out the critic in me, just revelling in his comeback. tinpusher
I gave it a "great" and I'll tell you why. Having been a fan of the show since early childhood (25+ years) I find myself waiting with bated breath for each Saturday night to roll around but I must admit that when the show is over I find myslef some what unfulfilled. The culprit for this, you ask? Simple, episode length. I miss the good ol' days of feature length stories, when there was time for plot and character developement. When there was time for the audience to begin to identify with the goodguys (or badguys if thats your thing), time to become intimately familiar with the story and to thereby become a part of it. Time to think about the posible outcomes and formulate my own theories as to "who done it" etc. I find the the 45 minute episodes insult the intelligence of a more sophisticated audience, and let's be honest here, regardless of the fact that RTD has redesigned the series to appeal to a younger and new audience the audience that is actually watching the show is made up primarily of hard core fans of the original and if he wants it to stay on the air there will have to be some changes made. But enough rambling, I'll tell you why I gave it a "Great" instead of the poor or mediocre that it deserves. Because I am a loyal fan, Im just happy to see it back on the air. When it comes to the Doctor, Ill take what I can get.

CrusadrMoron
It isn't how long I've been a Doctor Who fan that really matters. It feels as if I'm just coming on board with this new series. As someone from the US I'm stunned at how pleasurably dangerous these first few episodes have been. For a kids show there is certainly no dearth of Life or Death situations. Tertiary characters are offed in horrifying ways offscreen. Planets explode, hideous mutants explode, special effects pop right off the screen. The character development is freaking tight too. The doc's new companion is thunderstruck as an ordinary person might be but as a thinking and reasoning character she LEARNS and reacts to her environment. The Doctor knows everything already apprently so it's nice to get a little wonder out of the situations through the sidekick/partner/love interest. The coolest thing in my mind is how Doctor Who is different from a lot of Sci-Fi shows out there in terms of cast. The enemies having been established in the show's long history begin to stay the same but its the core characters and the Doctor himself who are always in flux. Gave it an AWESOME. My standards for enjoying sci-fi, as opposed to hard science fiction, are as long as I get an emotional response from the cast and have a fun time watching then the time has been well spent. While you might not learn anything of true technical worth there are plenty of subtle moral lessons embedded in the series so far. Have to stop before I go into SPOILER territoryfrom sheer joy. Haven't felt this buzzed since Babylon 5 :)
PoPPunker
Ok this is my first post so forgive me for any mistakes. I quite like the new series. The 3rd episode really did it for me. I feel Christopher Eccleston is getting better and better. As a Doctor Who fan since forever I was worried that the 'magic' that was the original series was not going to be in the new series. I was wrong. After the 3rd episode I realised the magic was still there. There were parts during that episode where I had a joyous tear in my eye. Great stuff!!!!!!! Carry on!!!!!!! Yossarian75
It could have been a lot worse(remember the tv movie?), it feels like Dr Who but with much higher quality effects and acting. Remember some of the wooden acting in the original series(ace comes to mind). I loved the aliens in the second episode, much more imaginative than the standard 'bumpy forehead' type that other sci fi shows have. I think the series has a lot of potential, DS9/Voyager/Enterprise started to get REALLY good after a couple of seasons.
Ulysses
I grew up with Sci Fi, think my first ever series i ever remember was Space 1999 way back in 1976 and I was only 5 or 6. Moved onto Blake 7, buck rodgers, logans run, and Dr who afterward. Really always did like Dr Who untill McCoy took over then went right off it, glad they gave it a break as its had time to be re thinked the concept. episode 1 I thought was good, but abit cheesy in places episode 2 Was alot better with the futuristic view episode 3 welll the best so far, great script and feeling in the story This probably be a good omen to Star Trek, that a break from making them for a while will do it good, Dr Who is the proof in the pudding
tisjusme
I think the Newest Dr Who is probably one of the better ones 2 date. I like the energy portrayed from both characters. I also like the choice of sidekick. I have just finnished watching episodes 1&2. I found the plot in the first a little tachy but still in the tradition of DR Who with cheesy props that are interesting but probbable as in the other Dr Who series. After wayching the second episode, I will say that I still find it exciting to watch! Just as exciting as being scared of the Darleks at 3 years old (I would hide around the side of the TV sucking my thumb for assurance every time I saw a Darlek) Sorry if Ispelt it wrong! I will endevour to watch all episodes from now on. Two thumbs up !!! Well Done to the producers. :cyclops:
starcrunch
I've enjoyed all three episodes so far. It took a minute for eccleston to grow on me, but I like him now, too bad he's leaving. I didn't think the TV movie was all that bad, because at least they gave McGann's 8th Doctor a regeneration sequence. Other than that, I can live without the usual Doctor flashy eccentric outfits, but at least give me 3 things...a regeneration scene, the Doctors face coming at me during the opening credits, and at least one episode with previous Doctors, any would be fine, except the ones that are dead and Colin Baker, who I believe is quite old and portly now. But What am I saying this is the age of CGI so I guess they could actually do an episode with all of them
Allardyn
Cheer up the next show, is a 2 parter. he is the shows the have shot/written to date... 1 Rose 2 The End of the World 3 The Unquiet Dead 4 Aliens of London - Part One 5 World War III - Part Two 6 Dalek 7 The Long Game 8 Father's Day 9 The Empty Child - Part One 10 The Doctor Dances - Part Two 11 Boom Town 12 Untitled - Part One 13 The Parting of the Ways - Part Two Edit* And I would have to say awesome for my rating. I actually like the non-cliffhanger idea. When I was growing up watching the Doctor I almost always missed the first 5 or so minutes of the show. So iInever knew what happened, I like it this way.
