posiable spoilers

figured I would get this one underway

here is the first of the multi-parters according to TV-Tome

so how much of the time war do we learn from these two episodes ?They are the two episodes directly before the one titled Dalek.I think that the revelations as to what is happening may come hard and heavy over the next three weeks .

although i did not see unit insignias I think it would be pretty cool if there were a reintroduction to unit obviously Lethbridge Stewart would be retired ( met him at the mid-south con a few weeks ago no less )but they could pick it up with the next generation of unit

other than that the second part is titled wwlll so that sounds intriguing as well.

Awww ya beat me to the weekly episode feedback post.

Am sending the Dalek round now! Start running! :D

Have you all seen this weeks official BBC web page, I love the 'unofficial' BBC News 24 report and headline. Also the 'Lies' link at the bottom is updated each week with the likes of Clives conspiracy website which featured in 'Rose'. They even have security camera footage of the Auton shopping centre massacre (faked of course) LOL Nice touches BBC, I like little things like that, shows theyre actually interested.

EDIT-Ive just paid my weekly visit to the 'Lies' section as I havent read it properly since the 'Dummy Massacre' bit where they ask for peoples reports or witness statements, and it may seem as if theyre throwing small clues in here and there. The article they posted this week was stated as such....

MILLIONS HEAR VOICES

We're being bombarded with proof of the supernatural. First it was killer dummies. Now millions of people are claiming to have heard a ghostly disembodied voice last weekend.

Was it a warning from Forces Unknown of that disaster that was about to happen? We will never know!

People claim to have heard the voice say different things. "What do I do now?", "Where are we going?", and "Is this live?" have all been reported, but none of them can be verified. All have a BURNING SIGNIFICANCE to our time

__________________________________________________

Actually I cant help thinking this is a piss take of the voices heard at the beginning of 'Rose' can anyone remember what Graham Norton said? Sounds like the BBC having a joke at their own expense.

Or....

Now that Episode 4 is back in present day London and the website is offering clues to these starnge voices possibly linking to the Auton attack, what do you think this is? Are the episodes linked or just coincidence, although Im pretty sure therell be more Time War links I cant help thinking almost every episode has some linkage, like my blue-elemental theory about the Gelph (Gelf?) actually surviving the explosion.

Damn just under 2 days to go, hurry up weekend.

Were there any Who episodes which were set in "present day' as in contemporary to their airing date, which were "alternate" Universes.

Seriously man, watch 'Inferno', its a nice long one but its great for the parallel Earth present day (well for its day)storyline. One of my top Pertwee stories.

It was also the period which always puzzled me in Dr Who, it was never explained how he managed to get the console 'OUT' of the Tardis and get it 'sort of' operational and travel with the console on its own, even tho it did only travel 'sideways' in time.

He even manages to crash the Tardis console into a local rubbish tip lol.

As far as promoting the series, they show no more than the official trailers do, maybe some behind the scenes stuff but nothing to leak any spoilers as such so its fairly safe at the BBC!

Actually its been a while since I watched it myself, my old VHS is a bit tatty so Im not gonna upload this one, must try to get a good torrent somewhere.

EDIT-Found it on Demonoid, gonna spend the next month getting it lol (joke, low seeds but hopefully not too bad)

Re-EDIT: I stand corrected, Im getting FULL speed down & up from this tracker, Ive upped the torrent here at Nites, someone has a nice fat pipe, get it while the goings good.

To give you an idea of why I think its a good tracker, Im on 1.5MB cable UK NTL. If I can achieve 177kbps download and 28kbps upload steadily for 2 and a half hours for this 2.3GB file then its good. Damn, would be even better if NTL would finally upgrade me to 3mb which Im supposed to be getting for the £37 month Ill also continue to seed even tho its not local for us.

Glad to hear it, and sorry its not working here, it should be fine if you downloaded the plain torrent, but with Azureus you can change available trackers by right clicking on it in Options.

With Inferno, the real intriguing parallel stuff doesnt get going until episode 3. Im afraid its another of those overly long stories that could have been shortened to get the adventure and points across but thats the 60's and 70's for ya. :D It was still very well done tho, gritty fascist Britain drama.

Could it really happen? hehe

Wicked, much better episode, and at last a classic cliff-hanger. U.N.I.T, although not as much as we expected but theres the first official tie to the classic series on earth.

The aliens (not sure on names yet, Sliveen or something, look a bit naff around the head area, but thats classic BBC props, altogether great stuff.

Cant wait for upload as my pictures a bit fuzzy tonight.

OK I may be biased but this is just awesome .

yea I was right with the tie in to unit nicely done there and good humor in this one as well . already some good character development as Ricky err Mickey and the Dr seem to have that rivalry thing going .

most intriguing is that for the first time no mention of the time war maybe there is a tie in during part 2 .

I am wondering now that UNIT is back if there will be some character development like with sgt Benton, captain Yates and of course Lethbridge Stewart .I think it was one of the high lights of the Pertwee and T baker era and it would be a great move to make it a part of the show again .

anyways seems like this Dr has a bit of glory hound in him . nice characteristic for the Dr . Too bad he is leaving after this season so far my only lament keep up the good work RTD

I think the only thing that annoyed me about it was, we finally got the classic cliff-hanger ending where the audience is made to think the Doctor or whoever is about to die horribly, yet with the new format of showing what happens next week, one of the first things we see is the Doctor up and running. Now to me that says "Whats the point of a cliff-hanger", kinda ruins the suspense somewhat.

*whisper* I know we grown ups, even as children, somehow knew the Dr would be ok but come on, give the kids of today some fun. (apart from 'farting' & giggling aliens.

Id like to have had a closer look at the UNIT insignia, all i could see was they were round, but I couldnt see if it was the classic insignia or did they update it. Didnt they do a new design in Battlefield? Cant remember well, 1989 was a busy year for me and I aint seen it much since.

Yup, well spotted

The DVD Boxset, PLay.Com fluffed up with the track listing, episode 12 is still t.b.a, theyve put 'Parting Of The Ways' in as part 12-13, noobs! :)

EDIT I just saw a 30 second clip of 'Dalek' when 3 young guys are escaping from the Dalek and they stop to intimidate it by saying it cant climb stairs, then it grates "EL-E-VATE" and starts rising just like in Remembrance (1988). But what I was about to say is, the main charater in the trio is that kid fresh out of Coronation Street, the one whos mum is that fat blonde taxi-controller, dunno his name but flippin 'eck, Corrie actors in Dr Who.

Mind you Gail Tilsley was in Pertwee story 'Frontier In Space'
