fetasigma
so folks, assuming that this is the 9th doctor(we really dont know yet if we skipped regenerations or not). whats going to happen when we reach the max 12 regenerations. Not to mention is the doctor ever going to turn into the evil valyard, or was that just a future echo of a possible alternate future. come on guys, what do you think? are we going to have a master like doctor that does anything to prolong life? tinpusher
I believe that to answer this question we must look to the original series for clues. In "The Five Doctors" the producers gave themselves an out just in case the situation ever arose where the Doctor would run out of lives. Lord President Barusa told the doctor that they had given the Master a complete new cycle of regenerations in exchange for his help. If they can do it for the Master then they can do it for the Doctor. And I know that he is supposedly the last timelord but comeon lets be sensible. He could always travel backwards in time to a point before gallifrey was destroyed.
coolcat13
1st off they may not count the movie so it could be regen 8 but who knows 2nd they will likely have plenty of time before they need to figure out what to do about him running out of regenerations .God willing they will get an actor like T Baker who can last 8 years
Antilles
Nah, theres no way theyd disregard Paul McGanns Doctor, hes too much part of it now, not just because the movie but the books/audio etc. too late to do a 'Cushing' on him.
paniq
wasn't that because Cushing was done under a different license and completely separate to the TV series? McGann was a TV doctor - just a miniseries effectively.
